The Offer
Direct link to offers: $825 | $400
- Wells Fargo is offering two business checking bonuses. Both bonuses require opening a Initiate Business Checking account.
- $400 bonus when you deposit $2,500 or more to your new business checking account by day 30 and maintain a minimum daily collected balance of $2,500 through day 60 after account opening
- $825 bonus when you deposit $25,000 or more to your new business checking account by day 30 and maintain a minimum daily collected balance of $25,000 through day 60 after account opening
The Fine Print
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
The Initiate Business Checking account has $10 monthly fee which is waived if you have one of the following each fee period:
- $500 minimum daily balance, OR
- $1,000 average ledger balance
Early Account Termination Fee
There is no early account termination fee mentioned.
Our Verdict
Not as good as the previous $1,500 in branch offer, but that was back in 2022 so I’m not sure we will see that again. With this new bonus you’re basically needing to hold the funds in there for 30 days (realistically a little longer to deal with transfers). Both bonuses are worth doing given the returns, the one you prefer will depend on how much cash you have on hand. Will add this to our best business checking bonus page.

Its a good bonus, but too much of work if you are not autoapproved. On the call after about 15 minutes I was told I need to go into branch and restart application since my profile has EIN showing SSN and they have to change it. Going to skip this one.
I missed the 30day window to deposit. What’s the best way to get the bonus now?
I could
A) go in branch and chat with a rep
B) open a new account and fund within 30d
C) S.O.L.
Close it. The likelihood of them allowing an exception is VERY slim. Feel free to prove me wrong.
You need to wait at least 90 days from closure before trying again, so you will have to hope the offer gets extended again.
Or, you could be like Mothman and have more than one business… and collect on it instead. Open a new one with SSN vs EIN.

Am I eligible if I have a regular consumer(non business) checking account with them?
Yes
Just crossing my t’s here. If I apply on the 10th, and the account is approved and opened on the 15th, my 30 day window begins on the 15th, yeah?
Correct
As always, thank you. Was it you who asked “you only do 1 checking sub at a time?” Since then… I’ve started 6 😂
Yep, that was me. Welcome to the club! 😁
I’m debating on whether I should open another account. Is there any way I can tell if my first one is using my SSN or EIN? On my Authorization for Information and Certificate of Authority doc, it shows my SSN and not my EIN. However, when I applied online, I could’ve sworn I used my EIN. I had to do that awful phone call and I’m wondering if it was switched then.
I found a “Business information” page and it shows my EIN. Should I take that as the word of truth and open the next account with my SSN?
Sole prop (SSN)
4/11 – account opened
5/7 – $25k deposit
6/12 – $24.5k withdrawal
6/13 – $825 bonus posted
Single member LLC (EIN)
5/6 – account opened
6/2 – $25k deposit
7/7 – $24.5k withdrawal
7/10 – $825 bonus posted and $198 withdrawal FEDERAL TAX WITHHELD
Cheers, thanks.

May I ask if both accounts were opened online or in person? Do they both appear under the same online login?
Both were opened online, but required the lengthy phone conversations with a WF banker. And yes they both appear under my personal WF login.
Interesting, I also opened online and have this account linked under my personal WF login (albeit Premier checking + Wellstrade) and I didn’t have to undergo any phone call/screening.

I just found a “Business information” page and it shows my EIN. Should I take that as the word of truth and open the next account with my SSN?
Yes. The Cert of Authority is just verifying your personal info as a signer for account access and tax purposes. It doesn’t show the tax ID of the business that owns the account.
I opened my first account with my EIN, and I double checked with the banker reviewing the application during the phone call. She said it’s normal for the Cert to show your SSN, and my EIN was used for account ownership on the app.
Thanks for the confirmation!
You will be opening as a separate business entity using your SSN (not your EIN business entity), correct? If that’s the case, then I say go for it!
That’s correct. Guess I’ll give it a shot! Thank you.
I opened with the $825 promotion online, went pending and said bonus is attached with a reference number. Couple days later on a phone call to confirm info and 10 days later today it was approved. In the email today it shows a different reference number and also doesn’t mention anything about promo. How do I know if promotion was successfully applied? Do I need to call or is there a way to check online? Thanks
If they sent you docusign you should see it there, I think mine was on one of the attachments.
It wasn’t in the DocuSign for either of my accounts. The first one paid out already, so I know the code was attached. 😜
That’s good news
I don’t see it mentioned anywhere in the Docusign
There should be 4 or 5 pdf attachments in the docusign. There you will find the bonus information.
Sha
Yeah it’s 4-5 pages but no mention of a bonus
Maybe that is dependent on the banker that opens the account. I also see the bonus on the first email I got from them. The email is from Wells Fargo Applications, it was a notice that the application was pending. It shows the $825 bonus on that email.
My P2 opened online on 6/30.
P1 opened in branch the same day as P2.
Try logging in at the link below using your online banking credentials: https://icomplete.wellsfargo.com/oas/status/enter
From what I see, both P1 & P2 can log into the above link, and see the bonus addendum PDF by clicking on the Documents tab and scrolling to “Bonus Offer Disclosure”.
Not sure how much more proof someone could get, other than seeing the bonus deposited.
Sha
I tried logging in but gives me error message that nothing exists
Not sure why that would be, when both P1 & P2 can see it here, regardless of how we opened the account. I guess as WF to confirm your enrollment.
My apps don’t show at that link either. Was your P2 instantly approved, or did it go into review?
P2 was instant approval, online, yes.
Weird. Maybe it’s by state/region? It’s a pretty cool feature…

I think it’s the way WF handles biz apps that go into review. Seems like they get moved into a different system, and can’t be tracked anymore.
I’m not seeing it either. I wasn’t instantly approved.
Does anyone know if the business checking account qualifies you for a WF business credit card?
