[Expired] Amex Offers: Spend $100+ On Cell Phone Bill, Get 1,000 Points (Can Be Done Twice)

Deal has expired, view more AmEx offers here.

The Offer

Check your Amex logins for the following highly targeted offer:

  • Get 1,000 additional membership rewards points each time you use your enrolled card for a single online cell phone bill payment of $100+

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid through August 31, 2018
  • Offer can be used in a single charge or across multiple charges
  • Offer valid for payments for wireless telephone service charges made directly with US wireless telephone service providers (via online, mobile app, or by phone). Purchases made with third parties, authorized retailers or resellers are excluded.
  • Excludes purchases for VoIP, hardware, equipment, and bundled home/cable services.

Our Verdict

We previously posted about a 10% cash back offer and mentioned that there was also a membership rewards offer. It looks like the MR offer has been pushed to more cardholders now, so worth looking if you didn’t see it before. Remember that most cellular companies will allow you to prepay your bill which means you can lock in this deal for the future.

My cell phone bill is only 35 dollars. How many people pay 100 a month?

Tee

No need to hae bill be $100/mo; you pre-pay and get the discount. 🙂

You can probably prepay a larger amount without issue. T-Mobile lets you do that.

I pay 225 for three phones – AT&T

Sorry for you. 🙁

I can pre-pay as much as I want.

You know it is possible to have more than 1 line in an account, right?

We’re a 10-line plan on verizon. We pay $360 a month for unlimited data/voice/text.

Although I am not the manager of the account, I will ask my friend to use my card twice for $100 each charge. My bill is $36, and I will get 1000 MR cash back.

You can prepay! When the NBA card was a thing I’d pay for the entire six months worth of service during the 5% timeframe.

People who finance their phones or have family plans can have a fairly high bill.

Well I have T Mobile Family and pay $135 a month for four lines with unlimited talk and text.

$35? that is high. I pay $20 for 5gb per month with mint sim.

$35 a month isnt high for unlimited data/voice from tmobile. u get unlimited 2g iternational roaming and netflix a month. what is mint? whos towers are they using for service? if you ever leave your metro ares u prob dont get 4glte on a steady basis.

Andrew
Andrew

unless you are on the $70 plan with the military discount, a family plan or grandfathered I don’t see how that is unlimited.

If you need unlimited go metro or t mobile. A lot of people don’t so that is why I like mint.

mint is on t mobile towers. I have never had a problem getting same speeds as I got on t mobile postpaid/prepaid/metro pcs. I spent a few months on each until I realized I was paying extra so I went to mint.

on my Oneplus 3t, I have a setting that shows how much data is being used at all times in the top. even on postpaid t mobile only time, I went over 1 MB/s was video and those capped out at about 5 MB/s even on postpaid.

I have so many cards and different login and Amex offers becoming more targeted. I don’t even bother to check my offers these days

I must have pissed off the amex gods. Only good offer this year was Lowes and I think everyone got it.

Eric

I didn’t get the Lowe’s offer on any of my cards so not everyone got it. This offer was also on none of my cards.

would internet bill from ATT work?

0/10. Even the re-registration trick does nothing.

I added both offers (10% back and 1000MR) to a single card–think both offers will post with a single transaction?

Wow. Never seen that.

Yeah it will work. Score!

My wife got this too, but we use an MVNO, so it’s useless to us.

This worked for me and I got the 10% cash back up to $10 when I paid over $100 for sprint bill on my gold card.

My cell bill is more than a $100 a month. Tried searching for a link but couldn’t locate. Does anyone have a link that they can share? Most appreciated.

Seven cards, not a single one…

Andrew
Andrew

it’s nice but considering my phone service makes me buy a year at a time for $20 a month for 5gb of data… can’t really do this.

I haven’t had this offer the last couple of times. I think I’m blacklisted for having redeemed it on many cards when they offered it. Anyone else finding this?

James L
James L

Doubt you’d be blacklisted, probably just an algorithm designed to get it to people who haven’t received it or redeemed it before.

Audrey

Under “the offer” it says ” a single online payment” but under “the fine print” says “a single charge or multiple charges” – is that contradictory or am I misunderstanding?

MarcoPolo
MarcoPolo

I’m assuming it won’t work on Xfinity Mobile?

Audrey
Audrey

Why not on MVNOs if no carrier is specified?

I got this offer as well as the 10% back on multiple cards.
