[YMMV] Amazon: Use One ThankYou Point & Get $15 Off $100, Works On Giftcards

Update: Deal is now working again. Looks like there is also a landing page for this offer now. Hat tip to Darin.

The Offer

Link Citi ThankYou with Amazon (affiliate links here and below)

  • Amazon is offering $15 off $100 (?) when you use at least one Citi ThankYou point with promo code: CITITURKEY5
    • Here’s how to go about doing this deal:
      1. (Link your Citi ThankYou account to your Amazon account if you haven’t already; note, you often have to wait 24 hours after registering your card until you can activate the offer)
      2. Add $100 or more of eligible products shipped and sold by Amazon to your shopping cart
      3. Proceed to checkout & select your Citi ThankYou card as your payment method
      4. Select the amount of ThankYou Points you’d like to use for the purchase (we recommend using just 1 point)
      5. $15 discount will automatically be applied at checkout

A reader sent in this deal as $15 off $60, but it seems to be working for me as $15 off $100. For example, I added this Ring Video doorbell on sale for $139, and $15 came off at checkout. I was able to get it to work on third-party gift cards as well (but not on Amazon gift cards), main thing is that the item should be shipped and sold by Amazon.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until ??
  • Only works on items shipped and sold by Amazon

Our Verdict

A reader tipped us off about this deal, and I tried it on my account and got the promo code to work without any problem. It’s not working for everyone, try it out, YMMV.

From playing around, it seems that the code needs $100 minimum order to work. If anyone finds otherwise, let us know. Also, if anyone finds a direct link for this offer, let us know and we’ll add it in. For now, using the promo code does the job.

Three other similar deals:

Stack well with the targeted promo from Citi to get a $30 statement credit when using your card for three $30 purchases – doing this deal and putting at least $30 on the Citi card will take care of one of those purchases.

What can I buy?

Should work on everything shipped and sold by Amazon, other than Amazon & Visa gift cards. Some interesting options:

How can I make myself eligible for this deal?

If you don’t have a registered ThankYou card, add the card and register that for shop with points. In the past, the way it’s worked is that you have to wait 24 hours from registering the card until the activation link will show up.

Do you need prime for this deal?

I don’t think so.

Can I use a gift card to pay with Shop-with-Points purchase?

Yes, we describe three separate methods to accomplish this in this dedicated post.

For those who got the citi $30 back for 3 transactions at amazon, this is just too sweet to miss, if targeted for this one.

How long does the citi $30 back for 3 transactions at amazon take to post?

Didn’t work for me.

didn’t work for me for the same Ring product

“The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.”

Same here, didn’t work for me.

Didn’t work for me on $75 or $100 in physical giftcards. I did not previously have Thank You points attached to Amazon.

Tried using 1 point with promo code and had $100 GC in Cart and got this message.
The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

Doesn’t work for me. Link was accepted. But the discount never showed up. This year nothing worked for me on Amazon (amex. Chase. Citi)

Sorry. Ignore my last message. I was trying to get an amazon gift card. I tried using it for a third party card and the code worked fine. Thanks

It seems that it can not be stacked with the 20%off promotion on selected GCs.

No go. And I’ve had my ThankYou points linked to Amazon forever basically.

Just another note Chuck. It looks from your main post that it works on gift cards, but it it would look as if it were for amazon gift cards.

Maybe change it to third party gift cards, because those work and regular amazon cards don’t .

Strange. Tried to link my Citi Prestige and Thankyou Preferred cards. Both shows “Citi reports that you will need to contact them regarding your account status. ” Pretty sure both accounts are normal status as I just logged in and checked. Not sure how this could happen. Show “Balance Unavailable”.

Good to have a variety of points laying around.

Worked for me, thanks! You need to fully apply the points first and then enter the code. If you enter the code first or try and enter it before you confirm your payment method and 1 TYP in the text boxes it won’t work.

worked for me too.

Didn’t work for $99 but did work @100

Didn’t work for me on any gift cards or products. Also no $30 for 3x$30 for me either. Citi shows me no love!
