Totally stinks – RIC was almost always on the list and these were valid for departure and arrival cities. Easily saved 100k miles over the years. Oh well at least we have the web saver awards which have been useful as well.

I’m sorry what? AA already has public Web Specials, right? How is this any different?

Shame. Got great use out of these, but the writing was on the wall once they announced Web Specials

AA and UA both are scam. They advetise web specials, Saverawards for 12.K one way domestic blah blah but when you actually search online and try to book, most of what you see is 15K to 20K miles with endless connections. like taking 8 hour for a flight that would take only two hours if it is nonstop flight. If you want non stop flight, it shows 40K to 60K for one way domestic coach. International award saveraward is almost impossible to find and one way coach to asia start at 120K miles . They should offer a miles buy back program and offer the same rate for miles they sell.

That is largely a scam. By the time you’ve already bothered logging onto AA and done a mileage search, they gotcha. You’re then either way more likely to do a search through AA for a revenue ticket or accept an overpriced rewards flight.

My experience differs. I’ve used many web specials at 7500 one way. And they are on the most direct flights. Just need to book a month or so in advance.
I guess it’s a YMMV thing. But i’m an AA lover.
