Our Verdict

Pretty disappointed by this card offering by Marriott/American Express, doesn’t seem to really be any features that make the card worth keeping and it’s a relatively low sign up bonus a swell.

Applied for it and was denied because I already have the Amex Marriott Biz card. I talked to consideration and said that is not what it says on their page, but insisted that is why they denied the card.
I did not and do not have any of the Chase cards listed. And the Biz card I have for more than 2 years.

Anyone else got denied for strange reasons?

There is a bonus of 1k points every time you stay at a Marriott property. I still don’t see it being useful, but if you stay at Marriott a lot, it might be worthwhile.

It seems, from the small print, that the points from this card will stack with the 125k from the Biz Bonvoy. Can anyone confirm?

I want to say they forgot to add the annual 50k FN for Bevy and Bountiful…

Except he’s right. It’s a blatant money grab train wreck of a card.

Does that mean if you want Platinum Status you could just pay for Brilliant ($625), Bevy ($250), Business ($125), and get 25+15+15 Elite Nights = instant Plat?

You get instant Platinum status from Brilliant.

Personal and Business elite nights only apply once – so the total is 25 + 15 = 40 nights (but Brilliant gives you Platinum status automatically so this is a moot point). Hope this helps.

Yes and no. Your assessment if off.

Brilliant costs $650 not $625 and incldue platinum, no need to reach 50 nights.

You can combine the Brilliant with the business and get 40 nights max credited per year. Bevy won’t provide any extra nights. But you’ll already have platinum from the Brilliant…which is now worthless other than free breakfast.

Gotcha, thank you. And looks like EN doesn’t stack for personal cards so 40 EN for $650+$125. Farming Lifetime Platinum.

Dam $250 annual fee and no free reward night. I am good with the old $95 card and a free reward stay. You can easily get a $ 250-300 value for spending 95$. Now that you can top off additional 15k to the annual 35k reward, you can stay at better hotel.

The two new cards plus the old one’s refresh are equally bad… Seriously Marriott?

Marriott is a stay away at this point, even amongst the hotel cards that in general are relatively mediocre except for the folks practically living in hotels already.
