American Express have partnered with JustGiving for Giving Tuesday and are offering to match donations to Feeding America at a 10x rate (e.g donate 1 point they will match 10 points. Donate $0.1 and they will match $1). You only get 0.7¢ in value when donating points, so might make more sense to cash out via other means (e.g if you have the Charles Schwab card you can get 1.25¢ per point) and then donate cash instead. It’s capped at $1,000,000 ($10,000,000 in matched donations), but if you feel like doing good then this is an easy way to amplify your donation. If you’ve ever found value in this blog then I’d always encourage you to give back to your favorite charities whenever possible.
Hat tip to Pizza In Motion
It says pretty clearly on the website that only donations with points are matched at 10x:
At the bottom:
“After an Eligible Card Member, as defined in the Program Terms for using Membership Rewards Points for JustGiving, uses Membership Rewards® points towards a donation to Feeding America through JustGiving, American Express will match 10x the dollar amount of each donation, up to $1,000,000 in total donations.”
At the top:
“When you use Membership Rewards® points towards a donation to Feeding America, American Express will make a 10x match for the dollar amount of each donation (for example, if you donate $100, American Express matches with $1,000) – up to $1,000,000 in total donation matches.
But it has two donations (e.g 70k in pts and 230k in cash?)
No thanks. I don’t want my MR points being used for Trump supporters.
Expand? What’s the deal with feeding America?
In before the RAT somehow bans us from donating too much or something ridiculous 😛
