Our Verdict

Same experience as Aaron M tonight. Placed two separate orders for $150 physical GCs. But THANKYOU2021 did not work for me. I used BUYMORE to waive the activation fee on each order. (shipping was already free for being under $200). Received instant notification of charges to my AmEx card after each order, e-mail order confirmations, and an e-mail from AmEx about successfully redeeming my offer after the second order processed.
Please note that it did send a “SafeKey” to my cell via text message to confirm order which it gets from your AmEx card profile. So make sure your cell is filled in/up-to-date.

Amazon now does $0.10 pre-auth when adding the GC. Cannot load all $300 in one go.
Any way to fully drain the card? Or are we stuck with 10 cents left on the card?
Waited for 7 days for the $0.10 pre-auth to drop off, I just load the rest to Amazon.
I enrolled in the offer on my Delta Plat card a few days ago, but I can’t seem to find it on the “Added to Card” list now. Does anyone else have the same issue?
“We Are Unable to Process Your Order

etc. etc.
“Please call your financial institute for more information.”
etc.
Just before this happened, I got the AMEX SafeKey popup, and I entered the 6 digit code received by text message. I also see the charge pending on my AMEX credit card, and I even got an email saying I used the AMEX Offer.
Used the “Resubmit my order” button to try again, and all the same things happened. There are no orders in my amexgiftcards.com account, but I have 2 pending charges on my card.
Chatted with AMEX, and they said:
“As of the moment, there is an ongoing issue in purchasing amex gift cards. The transactions were approved but immediately being reversed in the system. For now, we advise our card members to make the purchase via our dedicated phone team. You can call our AMEX gift card purchasing team at 1-833-205-8622.”
I don’t know if that would work to trigger the AMEX Offer. I’m guessing not. I guess I’ll just try later.

Got offer on EDP card. I purchased with code PHONE401 for $200 + $100 as described and also got AmEx email right away (subject line “Great news! You just used your Amex Offer for $20.00 cash back at AMEXGIFTCARD.COM” ). I checked out as guest, had to put a business name, had to allow pop ups and send push notification to my app on my phone to authorize the purchase. I expect to get cards emailed to me within a couple of hours like VK. Will report back any problems.
Both GCs arrived. Were in Gmail spam folder!
