Amex Offers now have Real-Time Eligibility Tracking

Reader Larry sent us an image of a new Amex Offers tracker which shows whether you have any remaining uses on the offer. Many other readers confirm seeing this as well. Not sure if it’s found on computer or limited to the app.

Readers note that the tracker does not show how much you have left on partially-used offers. Apparently, it’s just meant to confirm when you’ve used up an offer to avoid confusion about whether you can use it again. Not long ago, Amex added other clarifications to their systems, including signup bonus tracker emails and a signup bonus eligibility check.

Some Amex Offers allow doing the same offer two or three times – on those it should show “1 left” or “2 left” after using the offer once.

Related, reader Larry notes that the tracker is indicating the offer used up on a card that it was never used on, apparently due to the fact that it was used on a different card. Seemingly, Amex is enforcing the limit one-per person even on offers already saved. So, for example, if you have the $30 off $300 Best Buy offer already saved on multiple cards (from before the big August 1 change when Amex limited us to one per person), you’ll only be able to use it once. This change won’t matter for future offers, but could matter tremendously for a few terrific offers we have already have saved on many Amex cards.

Update: It seems multiple offers are still working fine, in practice.  (DP1, DP2)

i can confirm the old offers (specifically staples 10% off up to $1000 in purchases) still work once saved. had a bunch saved & made 10 orders on Fri. & got the “congrats” email from amex on all of them. only problem is staples canceled every order instantly…and this is after i spent time on the phone w/ a helpful rep in operations support regarding previous canceled orders who assured me i had done nothing wrong and called me back to say she had fixed the issue on the back end…

I bought $300 of WF gift cards at best Buy on August 1. The charge has posted but the 3k MR have not.
I don’t know if it is because I bought gift cards or because of all the changes Amex has made. I didn’t have the offer on any card.

I used 5 on 25 staples within last few days. Got them on 4 card (all 4 AUs with separate logins.) I also used 10% staples card that had some partial spend left. Got 10% back. Had used it before on one card.

I haven’t seen any pay over time deals for amex lately. Have you? My business gold anniversary date is coming and wondering if they will give me the 10k MR or I should just close the card without getting lucky.

Glad I’ll (probably) still be able to use more of the Best Buy offer.

Looks like the “0 left” is more for number of times left rather than “$0 left” to show the dollars of Credit that are percent based offers.

Amex offers are fairly disingenuous IMO. They are explicitly designed to maximize purchases at the same time minimizing payouts by hiding behind BS terms. I have the 25% off FedEx shipping on my Biz Green card. I shipped something there a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t get credit. The chat rep then provided me with some terms that said “excludes shipping services”. I could have chosen a different shipping company or card to use, but I chose this combo because the offer was provided to me.

“excludes shipping services” … so what on earth does it INCLUDE????

The following are terms given to me by the chat rep. These were different from the terms included with the offer, but I couldn’t seem to get this point across.

Excludes all shipping services, packing services purchased at a shipping point-of-sale, purchases made at other FedEx brands such as Howard Press, FedEx Supply Chain, FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade Networks, FedEx Cross Border, paid for in store shipping of items

I have the staples 10% offer added on all 3 biz cards. Used 100/100 on one of them. The other 2 both shows “0 Left” now- Delta biz and gold biz. Not sure if this means i’m SOL. Will try one purchase along with the new staples $5 discount and report back.

Didn’t know you could hit the spend requirement over multiple transactions. Always thought it had to be all at once.

It depends on the conditions attached to the offer. But most allow multiple transactions.

My Exxon Offer is at about $80 out of $100 and it does not show any activity.

I’m seeing it on fully used offers only.
I have partially used offers that just show the normal offer there
