[Expired] Amex Offers: Pandora, Spend $9.99 & Get $9.99 Statement Credit

Deal has ended, view more Pandora deals by clicking here.

Update 6/8/21: Deal is back and valid until 12/7/2021.

The Offer

Check your American Express login for the following offer:

  • Get a $9.99 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $9.99 or more online at Pandora.com by 12/7/2021.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only for purchases made directly on US Pandora website.
  • Purchases may not qualify if not billed directly by the merchant. For example, if you purchased your subscription through a third party device/digital platform, cable/wireless/internet provider, or car manufacturer, you may get billed by the party you signed up with, and not directly by the merchant.
  • Qualifying charges must post to your account before the campaign end date in order to be considered eligible. If you are a new customer receiving a free trial, you may not be charged until the free trial period has lapsed.
  • Excludes B2B Ad Sales and purchases made through third parties.

Our Verdict

Go through a portal for additional points. Just make sure it’s for the streaming service and not for Jewelry store.

Anybody use stack this with Rakuten?

Rakuten has $7.50 cash back on Pandora, with the following terms: “Cash Back is only available for first time sign up. Use of coupons or promotional codes not listed on Rakuten may void Cash Back. Cash Back is not available during free trial period. Cash Back will be automatically added to your Rakuten account today.”

However, I didn’t see any way to not accept the 60-day free trial, so I’m not sure how this would work – seems obvious that I won’t get cash back from Rakuten today, since I’ll be in the free trial for 60 days, and I’m skeptical that Pandora/Rakuten will reopen this shopping trip in 60 days to give me credit when the first $9.99 charge hits.

$4.99/month plan is not good for this, right?
Sine $4.99*2 = $9.98 may not trigger the offer?

Is there a reason to use this if you don’t intend to use the Pandora subscription? Except for the free 10 points you’ll get for the $10 purchase? :s

It’s a “free” transaction for those trying to hit 20 or 30 transactions on the Everyday or Everyday Preferred cards each statement period.

You can remove the “Go through a portal for additional points” line: that’s for Pandora the jewelry store, not Pandora music, which has no portal partners.

William Charles Nooo Kent is the idiot. The one you linked to was correct – https://www.cashbackmonitor.com/cashback-store/pandora. If you click on the Rakuten, Swagbucks or any of the other offers from there, you’ll see that they talk of Pandora, the music streaming service – eg. https://www.rakuten.com/pandora.com. And yes, Rakuten is offering $7.5 cashback.

That comment was from a year ago. CashBackMonitor has obviously fixed things to avoid the confusion.

Sweet.

Personally due to Amex’s clawback inclinations I’m going to look for this on a card that does not have a streaming credit…

Interestingly, this may trigger both the Pandora Amex offer *and* the streaming credit, essentially making this a $9.99 moneymaker. Going to sign up now and will report back.

Just beware, they have clawed back similar double-triggers in the past.

Good to know. Probably not worth the risk and hassle — plus, Pandora gives you 60 days free, so you’d have to wait until September for the charge to hit anyway. And Pandora charges tax on the $9.99, so a potential money-loser.
