Our Verdict

I’m not a cruise expert, but these kinds of large offers tend to stick out. The points offer is especially interesting for someone who values those at significantly higher than cash, e.g. if you value MR points at 2 CPP, it’s a $450 return on $750 spend. Personally, I only see the cash offers on my points cards.

Anyone Know of any online travel agency’s where you can do this? Book with them and the payments will code as princess so you get the amex credit?

I booked through costcotravel and wouldn’t be able to make payment through princess website. So be careful if you use third party to book the cruise. But if I book through princess, I was able to make multiple $750 using different cards. So it’s still a great deal if you plan to do cruise anyway.

Anyone Know about using it to book the excursions? Under the offer details it says Excludes if not booked at time of reservation: airfare booked through cruise line, excursions, hotels, cruise Insurance, luggage valet service, Celebrations (birthdays, weddings, etc.) and MedallionClass.

There is no way to book the excursions at the time reservation you can do it right after. Will it code the same and be part of the offer?

Both me and P2 have it. Anyway to split the purchase across 2 different cards? Also for Caribbean cruise, how is princess compared to Royal and carnival?

You can split the payments, just pay $750 or whatever as the initial deposit. The cruise line will give you a final payment date when the cruise needs to be paid off. You can make additional payments at anytime for any amount. Cruise lines understand that cruises are a large cost for many families and that folks might not have enough on any one credit card or at any one time to pay for the cruise in full. So you can exploit that to get multiple amex offers per cruise. Princess is owned by Carnival, but we have not sailed that line.

I don’t have the MR point offer, only the cash back offer. Checked a few of my logins and found it on a BRG (Main+AU), BBP (Main+AU), and SCP (Main+AU) cards, so only business cards. It might also be that there were more than 100 available offers, and I didn’t feel like adding offers just to see what’s behind the 100 limit.

I’d like to use this offer, but in general it is so complicated to use these Amex offers. I have 10+ logins with about 35 active cards to check, takes so long.

Thanks for mentioning the 100 limit; I wasn’t aware of that. So I just added some 20 random (useless) offers to one of my cards and they were just replaced with equally useless offers. No Princess, which I might have used. It’s amazing how many businesses are out there offering these discounts that I have never even heard of.

I suspect this website has prices at least $225 more expansive than a good travel agent can offer for the same cruise.

I can’t even get the page to load.

Travel agents for cruises can be hit or miss though. See, for example, elliott.org where there have been experiences ranging from the TA not knowing about multiple airports in NY, visa/passport requirements, insufficient time between flight and cruise, etc. And then there were some that outright didn’t pay or gave them wrong information. For an informed independent traveler, going with the TA might get them some savings, but they may not actually provide any value.

Maybe. You’ll definitely miss out on 5-10% cash back by not shopping through a portal. And $750 for a cruise is hard to come by on Princess. Best you could do for regular cruises is a 4 nt from Ft Lauderdale ($750 for 2 ppl).

For a standard 7 nt the cheapest I see right now is $1100 for 2 people. Still a respectable 20% cash back equivalent (assuming Princess offers same rates as you can get at Expedia etc).

The prices are typically the same at the TA sites, but often TAs will have some cash you can use on board the ship or other bonuses. However, you can have your cake and eat it to, what we do is book and pay the minimum deposit through the TA (AARP for us) to get their goodies. They will give you the cruise reservation number. Using that you can go to the cruiseline website, in this case Princess, and make multiple $750 payments to get multiple credits. Just a word of warning we have never done this for Princess, but have done it for similar offers for Royal, Carnival, and Norwegian and never had an issue.

Per the text above, “Offer valid only for reservations booked between 5/3/2019 and 6/30/2019 with Princess Cruises at Princess.com or phone at 1-800-774-6237.” Does not specify a cruise date.
