Get a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $30 or more at participating Shell stations in the US using the Shell App by 5/13/2020. See terms for exclusions.
- Some are seeing 1,000 points on their Membership Rewards cards instead of the $10 offer.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid for automotive fuel purchases made in-app via the Shell App at participating Shell stations in the US.
- Participating stations can be found by using the Station Locator within the app.
- In order to be eligible you must first load your Card to the app using a compatible device.
- Qualifying spend must be met after any Fuel Rewards® savings are applied to an in-app purchase.
- Excludes any payments not made via the Shell App, such as transactions made online or by phone or payments made at the pump.
- Not valid on car washes, garage or mechanic services, or purchases made in convenience stores or at restaurants at Shell stations.
- Excludes locations outside of the US.
Our Verdict
This offer seems to be available on all cards. The app requirement makes it more of a hassle to use. I assume the app requirement will be enforced; if anyone tries it without the app, please let us know. If your car has a small tank, consider filling up with a more premium grade gas to hit the $30 threshold.

I saw someone was able to buy gift card in store, but I think my last ditch effort with this is to pay through paypal and have it charge my AmEx card. Could work or could not, but when you got a V8 truck you have to try and hope the 3rd times the charm!
Paypal seems to be an option in the Shell App and Samsung Pay no longer is, just Chase Pay and Google Pay which didn’t work for me before, but never completed the transaction.
This expires tomorrow, I paid through Paypal linked to my Amex card through the Shell app…of course if didn’t automatically apply the 10 dollar statement credit like these offers usually do. Called in and talked to a helpful rep who at first told me I paid paypal, then I explained I still paid through the Shell app and they are going to add credit to next months statement. Can’t beat a 20 dollar full tank of gas that usually costs 50! Some hoops to jump through for sure, but seems to be Shells or AmExs fault on this one.
I got an email from Shell fuel rewards saying that they are retaining everybody’s Gold+ Status as a Fuel Rewards® member for the remainder of 2020 due to COVID-19.
With gas price keep going down and I live in a state where the gas is already cheap, this offer is undoable for me only if I buy the most premium one. Hence, the saving is eliminated because the premium gas is ~50% more expensive
The offer is bizarre. You cannot add an Amex credit card to the app to pay for gas. WTF?
DP: added to my BCE card. No credit card option in shell app. Used Apple Pay with my BCE in shell app at a shell station. $35 spent but no Amex emails saying congrats of using this offer so far. Checked before writing this that this offer still in my added offers list.
The emails does not trigger some time but still the offer will be applied in few days after the transaction posted. i had similar experience on other Amex offers.
Please update if you get the offer credited.

I got the offer, but I wonder if I can use my Kroger plus points (redeemable at shell in my area), and pay with this app.

For those who were able to add this offer, I spoke with Shell customer support and I understand the ability to use a credit card directly in the app has been temporarily disabled. I was able to add my AMEX to my account at fuelrewards.com, and I’m hoping it will appear in the app whenever that functionality is restored.
For what it’s worth the rep seemed to thing going through a mobile wallet would work to trigger the AMEX deal (the rep I spoke with was already aware of the promotion; I didn’t bring it up).
I was at Shell this morning. A man walked over to me flashed me a badge and told me he was a fireman and needed $3 for gas. I gave it to him. I only had $3 cash on me.
I need $5 for gas, can we go to your ATM?
