[Expired] Chase Ultimate Rewards: 50% Transfer Bonus To Marriott (1:1.5)

Deal has ended, view more Chase Ultimate Rewards deals by clicking here.

The Offer

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards program is offering a 50% transfer bonus when you transfer to Marriott. Normally you can transfer at a rate of 1:1 and under this promotion that increases to 1:1.5

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 12/24/21

Our Verdict

We saw the same transfer bonus from Chase earlier in the year as well.  You can view a full list of current and past transfer bonuses by clicking here. Bonus itself is a huge waste of time as Chase Ultimate Rewards points are so much more valuable than Marriott points. There might be a fringe use case, but I’d certainly make sure you know what you’ll use the points for before transferring.

So if I transfer chase to Marriott then Marriott to United that would maximize the points

No! Marriott to United transfers are at a 3:1.1 ratio. So if you transferred 20k UR to 30k Marriott, that’d only transfer to 11k UA.

plz no – transfer Chase UR straight to United.

Do Marriott points still have an average value of 0.8 cpp? If so, +50% value effectively gives you 1.2 cpp, definitely worse than the standard 1.5 cpp UR value.

Depends on the redemption

Especially knowing you get. At least least 1,25 through the travel portal plus earn points on the stay.

One use case could be to use Marriott as an intermediary to transfer those points onward to one of Marriott’s transfer partners in order to top up for a known redemption that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

I am new to this point transfer. I have already booked marriott for 4 nights in late novemeber. Can I still transfer chase UR points now and pay with it during checkout ?

No, you can’t pay for a cash booking with Marriott points; you need to make it as a points booking. (You could check if rebooking as an award stay makes sense, but it probably doesn’t.)

(FYI – I haven’t seen it reported anywhere but may be of interest to anyone traveling internationally). I recently transferred points to Singapore Airlines and received a 15% bonus. I think the promotion runs through the end of November. As a result of the transfer I was also upgraded to Star Alliance gold. The business class savers award gave me a value of about 4¢ to 7¢ per point, not factoring in the 15% bonus. That was definitely better than any hotel transfer!

Hi Keith,
Does 15% bonus count toward the elite miles to earn Star Alliance gold?

How many pts you transferred to SQ? What award you booked?

Would SQ system treated this as “earned miles” hence gave you the Star Gold status? Is the status good thru the usual program year?

Did you transfer 218K+ or 250K+ before bonus? Thanks.

I actually found out by sheer dumb luck, so I don’t have all the details of the promotions… But this is what I did – I started with only 100 miles 🤭 in my account and zero status. I transferred 99k on Oct 13 to book SQ23 (no quarantine flight) from JFK to SIN but DID NOT get anything because it was before the promo. Then on Oct 26 I transferred another 99k (to book a return TBD), and received the 15% bonus, followed by an email saying I’ve been upgraded to Silver. It was too good so I did a 3rd transfer of 74k on Oct 31, received another 15% bonus and upgrade to Gold. The status is good until Oct 31, 2022, and I also have 14,800 elite miles towards requalification, even though I have yet to take the first flight.
That’s all I know!

Thanks Keith! This KrisFlyer Bonus seems under the radar.
Singapore at least has a step-wise plan to re-open. I’m not sure if I’ll do the transfer, but here are the links to the pages, since it took me a while to find them:

Actually would have been a good deal for me. I just transferred the rest of my UR points to book four nights at a Marriott resort in Maui a few weeks ago. Cash rates were $1,000+ per night, so I definitely did better than I would have using the Chase travel portal. With this, I would have had 20-30k UR points left and gotten 50% more value per UR point. Oh well.

we just got back from a marriott resort on maui: Westin. I recommend the other kaanapali marriott resort though: Sheraton. Unless your talking about the Ritz?

It’s been 24 hours since I transferred 2,000 points. Still not in my Marriott account. How long does it take for Marriott to accept a transfer?

24-36 hours usually.
