Hi did you receive any confirmation email from Citi about successfully enrolling in the offer before receiving the $750 bonus?

Citi kept refusing to open an account for me, letters that arrived in the mail all said “Unable to verify information”. This even though I’m a Citi Costco card holder and the application process required me to sign in, so most all info was pre-filled by Citi. I tried everything the reps told me to do, different browsers (including with no extensions, along with all cache/history purged), different email, different phone number, web or mobile, nothing worked. Had a Citi checking account years ago, so long ago they couldn’t look up either the account number or debit card number. Finally followed a suggestion here and had them open the account via phone call to 800-745-1534. I didn’t mention that I ever had a Citi checking account before, asked them to open my account via phone with the $750/$1500 promo (rep found the promo code), and had them open as part of CitiGold tier. Process took a while, but was pretty smooth, and Docusign was used to avoid having to mail back a signature card.

Data point – my account opened the next day, and I knew that because 2 more days later I got an email saying they had linked my new checking account to my existing online ID, I logged in, and just as rach said above, Citi displayed the promo info for me and it said that the promo was $750 for a $30,000 deposit made no later than 45 days after account opening, and that balance had to be maintained throughout the maintenance period which was 45 days after the deposit deadline. Not sure if my promo is different than what DOC documents because my account was opened via phone, but that’s what I got.

are there any DPs of someone not in an eligible zip opening the two accounts with the better promos from a link in a eligible zip and successfully getting the bonuses?

Been trying to open the account for two days and keep getting the following message:

Something went wrongWe apologize for the inconvenience, but we’re experiencing technical problems.
Please try again later. For assistance opening account, visit your local Citibank branch or contact us at 1-800-374-9500. We accept 711 or other Relay Service.

I called them yesterday and they weren’t even understanding the issue, but claiming that there were no problems with the online application system. They offered to open the account for me on the phone or in a branch, but weren’t able to tell me WHY I couldn’t do it online – and I’m not fully sure the rep even knew about the promo I was mentioning.

Anyone else run into this? Thoughts on next steps?

This happened the first time I tried, but then I went back again and tried and it loaded.

If you can’t get it to work, try the link on a mobile phone, I believe that works.

Within how many days do you have to bring money into a savings account to be eligible for the promo rate, along with a 750/1500 bonus?

10 business days.

The 4.35% rate is good for 90 days after opening(for those in one of the few states where cash in savings account counts towards bonus), so once you open, push the $30k into savings ASAP. After day 90 your bonus and promotional interest rate windows are over you can pull just about all of the $30k back out. You shouldn’t encounter monthly fees with Citi Priority package as it will take a couple months to “re-tier” your account and by then you can close them out to start your churn clock reset.

Remember, use another bank to push/pull $30k out to bypass Citi’s limit and avoid getting your account locked up. Do NOT initiate transfers from Citi or use a fin tech like Chime. ABC Chicago did a consumer report a couple years back on someone who did just that for a bonus like this, and their money was gone until they got involved..

Closed previous account 7/30/24. Would I be eligible for this bonus? I can’t find where it mentions how long since previous account.

You find that info via a link at the bottom of the page. Look for a link to Offer, Product & Pricing Information.

William Charles Will you update this page to show the $750 for 30k of new funds that are held from Day 45 through Day 90 of opening a Citi Checking account?
As you already stated the $1,500 for 200k doesn’t make much sense unless a person’s sign up ZIP code and/or going into a branch offer(s) counts money that earn a high enough APY.

I just received the 750 bonus (double dip for 4.35% APY and 750 bonus), here is my dp.
2.12 saving and checking account opened in branch.
2.18 30k was wire transfered to saving account (since you have to reach 20k in 7 days after your saving account’s opening to enjoy 4.35% APY)
2.28 39.35 interest posted
3.31 111.18 intereast posted
4.30 107.98 interest posted
5.13 the 90th day (4.35% APY only last for 3 months, I didn’t notice when it end, but probably around that day)
5.16 move out thousands bucks
5.22 750 bonus received

  HC

HC Does that mean, that you did not put $30k to checking account at all and money went to savings directly?
