What’s the % interest on this account & monthly charges again?

gary

no charge if you keep your balance over 200k, interest rates sucks. only have checking and IRA account with them

No monthly fee, but you’ll need to maintain a $200k monthly balance.

APY is 2.36% in my area

Like all the other big banks, the interest rate sucks. At the high balance requirement amounts, it isn’t worth it if you’re “saving” money versus “investing”.

Actually, it is definitely worth it. You can open an investment account and dump some no-fee mutual funds there, and have an amazing banking relationship. If you take advantage of all the “Thank You Points for Banking” offers (which is easy to do) they will give you 1200 points per month just for keeping the relationship, which has a value of over $20/month. Name another bank that pays you over $20/month just for being alive? Add that to the $200 subs benefit, and the $145 discount off the excellent Citi Prestige card, and the free services like ATM and Wire transfer, and the first class service you get as Citigold, it is a no brainer. I wouldn’t bank anywhere else.

You’re agreeing with me. Mutual funds are investing. If you’re caring about the interest rate, that’s savings. If you’re putting 200k into savings to qualify for citigold, you’re likely doing it wrong.

I’d say if you’re keeping $200K in cash anywhere you’re doing it wrong. Of course Citigold also considers taxable investment and retirement accounts. And their Accelerate savings product is yielding >2% at the moment. So, no, he’s not agreeing with you and Citigold is a pretty good offer if you have $200K in almost any kind of asset to park.

I believe Citi includes all assets with them including retirement and investment accounts. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

that is correct. It is the only way I qualify

I was going to joke and ask who can lend me $200K to put in an account. But if retirement accounts work and can keep my mutual funds or stocks as is, it would be gravy to get a free costco membership, reduced prestige annual fee or whatever else citigold gets.

Citigold (or even Priority) no longer comes with a decreased AF for Prestige.

CitiGold says on it’s website you get a decreased annual fee of $145: https://citigold.citi.com/experiences/lifestyle.html

Not quite — $145 is credited after paying the full AF. If Citi does not screw up (doubtful), the net AF would be $350 + $50 for each AU.

there are data points of Citi NOT honoring that after April signups. YMMV but multiple dp’s out there of this….

Actually, this appears to be a new update. All references to AF discounts were removed when they first announced the changes. I was going to upgrade to CG at the time but decided not to when this benefit disappeared and people reported no longer getting the discount. And the fact that this is a statement credit and not simply a lower AF is new. The CitiBike benefit is also valuable to me as an annual member. For me, upgrading to CG and keeping my Prestige with these new (and restored) benefits is now a no-brainer when I was ready to bail on my Citi relationship.

You get to keep all of them. Citigold also gets you $2.95 equity trades and unlimited free ETF trades. The 2.36% HYS is not bad either.

Is there a live offer for a Thank You points bonus for signing up for Citigold? Been considering signing up, and a bonus plus this deal might make the switch worth it.

I had issue signing up so Emailed my Citigold relationship manager. It appears this is an piloting program for New York area so not everyone can get it. However, my sister got it even not in New York. So maybe YMMY
