For a sense of timing on having access to the subscription benefit after upgrading to Citigold, here’s my timeline. I went looking for this type of data point earlier and didn’t see it:

June 10 – Upgraded Citi Priority account to Citigold (Decided to double dip the $700 Citi Priority bonus with the Citi Wealth brokerage bonus promo)
June 11 – My Citi online profile reflected the new account and status
June 22 – Able to register for the $200 subscription rebate. Previously I would just get the “wait for the email” page.

I declined getting a new debit card during the account upgrade, but it didn’t hit me until now that I have to put all the subscription charges on the citi debit card for the rebate to work. I’ll go ahead and call to request an updated Citigold debit card just to avoid any potential issues as a precaution since i’m in no hurry.

Rob, could you elaborate in more details on timing how to upgrade from priority to Citigold? II am trying to do the same plans.

I still need to wait for one more month for the $700 citi priority bonus to be deposited. 50k in checking/savings now.
1) Did you upgrade after you got the $700 bonus?– and how did you upgrade? By just calling Citi Wealth brokerage dpt? and open the brokerage account?

2) then transfer the 50k from Citi checking/savings to brokerage? (adding 150k to equal to 200k?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry – looks like I have response notifications defaulted to off.

I actually waited to upgrade the checking account until after my ACAT of securities went through into the brokerage account (I transferred in ETFs I don’t intend to trade) the first week of June. This was after my $700 bonus was deposited in May in the priority checking account.

But if you haven’t already started the process of opening a brokerage account for the bonus, get started ASAP! My experience was it took over a month to get the brokerage account opened which I detailed here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-wealth-management-up-to-3500-bonus/#comment-1187848

It appears brokerage account opening times have gotten better recently based on more recent posts, but we’re still talking weeks not just days.

To upgrade to a Citigold account I simply called in to the Citi Priority line as listed on my statement and just asked to be upgraded. I was transferred once, the rep looked over my accounts and available balances, read some disclosures, and I was off the phone with them in under 10 minutes.

As for funding the brokerage account, I did an ACAT of ETF securities with a market value of over $200k since it needs to be “New-To-Citi funding”. I made the conscious choice not to co-mingle any cash from the checking promotion with funds for the brokerage promotion – that seemed like an easy way to confuse Citi’s terrible IT even if it might be perfectly acceptable in the terms of the offer.

Has anyone been able to get a subscription benefit for P1 and P2?

I upgraded my package to CitiGold in May 2021, still waiting for the email. The relationship manager cannot expedite the process as it is “automated” and targeted. Sigh… Also, it took them more than 2 weeks to assign my CitiGold team. I am a sucker for benefits, so I will stick around for a bit, but the onboarding experience is subpar compared to BoA Premium or CPC.

I got some money from an inheritance that I want to part for a few months. Seems like this could be the best safe short-term way to use $200k of it.

So just one subscription per account? Most of these cost less than $200, Could we subscribe for 2?

A gift of an Amazon Prime subscription was reimbursed for me.

My branch rep got an email from the citigold benefit team, confirming that the gift of Amazon membership will work. I haven’t tried it myself yet though.

Was anyone able to confirm if Gift of Prime membership works? What are the other ways people are trying to use their $200/$400 credit?
