Our Verdict
Same as the previous $250/$500 bonus but slightly higher and has to be opened in branch. Will add this to our list of the best checking bonuses as I do think it’s worth doing.

Has anyone successfully opened an account with this offer? Tempted to go in branch this week and try, but I see a DP that they asked someone for last 3 bank statements and that would be no bueno for me since I move alot of money around
I checked the past comments as well as my own records to confirm that the statements cycles tend to end around the 15th for Amerant.
I called and spoke with a rep during the weekend regarding the following questions I had:
1) Does the first partial statement count toward meeting the hold period?
2) Terms state minimum balance of $10k or $25k toward the middle of the promo landing page. However, the fine print at the bottom states average balance. Which is correct?
3) If it is average balance, must this requirement be met for each one of the statements or across the three statements cycles?
The rep and I went back and forth. I was placed on hold about four times while he reviewed internal support articles on the promo. He couldn’t definitively and confidently answer my questions. He did state that the first partial statement would very likely count and advised me to play it safe and maintain the required balance for each day over the three statement period.
Went to branch. I was requested my last 3 statements from a different bank. I called and they had rejected me. No reason provided…
I’m curious which branch this happened at?
After chex pull I was told to provide statements through email. I did and after ghosting me I called… they said central office rejected me and they can’t do anything. Davie, FL
What are your Chex numbers like? I open a ton of accounts and I prefer to not waste my time driving to a branch just for a denial. My Chex score is lol/24
Also in their bonus terms: “FL Residents Only”, in case anyone was thinking of going in-branch as OOS
Was just about to ask then I saw your post.
Man Tampa (and South Florida in general) seems like a regional bank bonus goldmine
I was turned downed like two years ago for a account was opened than closed. I may try this one again though.
