Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Silver checking has no monthly fee to worry about. You do need to opt out of paper statements otherwise a $4 fee will be charged.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.

Our Verdict

Previous best bonus was $100, but didn’t require a direct deposit. Personally think this is a better bonus as it’s significantly better, but that will depend on how easy it is for you to set up a direct deposit. I’ll be adding this to our best bank account bonus.

I ran through the application. The archaic application interface is showing “Instant Approved” at the end and I did go through some identity questions but no telling if that’s really any sort of approval. My Chex is 20+ in the past 12 months so I’m not expecting it will work based on the experience of the reader but you never know I guess.

Keep us posted! I may consider applying but I have nearly a dozen accounts in the past 12 months. Curious to see how other people will fare

So, did it go through?

Sa I don’t imagine I’ll hear back for another day or two. If I don’t hear by Tues or Wed I’ll contact them for a status.

DENIED – Got may Adverse Action Email: “We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate your request to open a deposit account with our institution at this time.
Our decision was based in whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the consumer reporting agency listed below.
You have a right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to know the information contained in your credit file at the consumer
reporting agency. The reporting agency played no part in our decision and is unable to supply specific reasons why we have denied
your request to open a deposit account in our institution. You also have a right to a free copy of your report from the reporting…”

Yeah, same here. I’m lol/24 in ChexSystems, so I wasn’t too surprised; even though I had a home equity loan with Century several years ago.

Chex denied as well, but no idea of my score. It’s probably pretty high though.

Looks like ChexSystems NOT sensitive in brach.

2/6 mo., 7/9 mo., 7/12 mo., 8/24 mo. I have not tried on line and went to the Back Bay office directly.

Opened in branch, the person looked like either in a hurry or have not opened an account in a while; always seemingly recalling stuff to do.
What was weird was that to open account they need the last 4 digits and expiration of a debit or credit card. I already had my DL and SSN card (for two ids requirement). Did anyone encounter this before?

Got a signature card in the mail gonna send in set up work dd and see what pans out,

Anyone have any idea what works as DD? No DPs on the list. Chase personal checking codes as “Ext Trnsfr JPMorgan Chase PPD” – guess I’ll find out in a month or two
