I was in Detroit this past weekend and stopped by this bank. Last time, i applied over phone and approved and they called and closed next day due to chex. So, i went to branch this time- they said yes and started. Manager, stopped by and said i need to have relative be an existing member for OOS. My relative doesn’t have an a/c yet. So, came out empty :(. Next time, will ensure my relative has an a/c and take him along.
Atleast, i saved a chex pull and denial in person. That would have been epic failure.
Approved immediately from Detroit MI. Note that this CU requires you to open a savings account as well, so you must deposit $10 at opening ($5 per account). There is also a field to enter a PROMO code but I left it blank as there was no PROMO code listed on this site or their “CloseEnuff” page. I will call them on Monday to confirm the $450 promo was applied to my account.
FWIW, I asked a chat agent if I needed to use a promo code and they said no
Approved instantly. Chex is at 1/6, 2/12, 3/24
Had all 3 bureaus frozen, no problems with credit pull
Approved immediately
Chex is at 6/24, 1/12 I think
Can you give me a referral? I’m OOS but I can join through a member. Also, referral earns you $70.
Sure! Not sure how to contact or what the rules of the forum are
Can you please send a referral to [email protected]?
Hey all,
Messaged a chat representative for the bank
Question:
Is it a hard pull on my credit?
Answer:
It’s a soft credit pull.
Question:
What would qualify as a direct deposit?
Answer:
Direct deposit requires funds to be posted directly into your account via your account and routing number.
My chex numbers are pretty good, so I will apply and see how it goes
That language looks funny “set up and have at least one successful direct deposit into the account within 90 days”. It sounds like you must set something up through them rather than push from another bank. Any dps?
Got denied for this last year due to Chex. I haven’t decreased my Chex activity so no point in trying again.
Did they cite a particular count/timeframe to be below to succeed? What were your Chex numbers at the time?
They also have a high yield savings account (10% on up to $1,000)
Tried in branch and was denied for Chex. No idea what my count is. However, the banker did read off my last few hits to me to confirm it was me lol
It will let you enter an OOS address and advance through the app, but after a bit it will ask how you qualify to join and that’s where you’ll need to be a MI resident.
I am OOS and just submitted the app with Chex and all 3 credit reports locked, I chose the last option for qualification – I go to MI for business or something like that. App went pending, I don’t count it to be successful.
Let me know if you have success with this
I considered choosing the option about doing business in MI, but I’ve never even stepped foot in that state. haha
How sure that this will work? Have you tried this before with other Banks?
Update: OOS is difficult. I received “We were unable to verify your identity based on the information you entered in the online account process. We will need you to provide the business’ name and address located here in Michigan, so that we may confirm proof of eligibility.”
I skipped this one.
