Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule, so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
Looks like it’s worth doing considering it’s a soft pull to open and there are no monthly fees to worry about.

Post history:
- Update 11/14/20: Deal is back and is now $150 instead of $125.
Has anyone gotten the bonus yet for referring a friend ?
with the 1% APY, it seems to be too good to pass. Any feedback on how easy or difficult it is to move money in or out?
Any referral codes?
Seems you have to “live, work, or attend school in Nassau or Suffolk County.” No shop or worship like some credit unions include. I may give them a call to see if this is correct.
I called, and was told another way to become eligible for membership is to have a close relative who’s a member. No “shop or worship “ at this CU.
It’s Back! There is also a $50 referral bonus for referrer and referee. I don’t know if this will stack with the $150 new account bonus.
Any one have any data points or want to send me a referral code?
Larrabeedrill,
would Jovia answer question about stack?
Also: what’s direct link to $150 bonus? I see nothing on jovia site
@Tony, https://www.joviafinancial.com/promotions
TY! I see all branches are Long Island. But many “shared branches” in Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc.
What’s a “shared branch”?
@Tony, a “shared branch” is another credit union that is part of the network of credit unions that JOVIA belongs to. Can do some basic transactions at those locations, such a deposits and withdrawals. Cannot engage in more proprietary transactions that are unique to JOVIA, like opening JOVIA accounts.
Yes, since it is asking for a referral code
Have had a pre-existing JOVIA checking account since it was required for their mortgage loan. My referral code is: 178392. I had to call them and ask since they don’t tell members their codes on the portal.
Hey Sunny i dont know if they actually check if your family with someone through the bank. Could i use you as a reference if possible for first/last name, email me if that is ok with your name karltio107@gmail.com

This seems to be over. Direct link to offer doesn’t go to offer.
Has anyone sucessfully churned this bank?

Promotion still active and expires 3/31. Not expired.
I just noted Federal Backup Withholding on my checking account. I don’t think i asked them to. Did it happen to anyone else? Thanks.
Talked to the rep and was told i need to fill out w9 form in order to stop the backup withholding. Need to mail a physical copy and can’t upload or email to them. Just want to share my experience.
