Our Verdict

We saw a similar online deal last week which sold out quickly. There’s also a Staples fee-free Visa deal this week as well.

Use your Ink Cash/Plus card for 5x points or use another card that has an online shopping bonus. Any other stacks that I’m missing? Let us know and I’ll add it in.

My card has been stuck somewhere between my town and DTW and gift card mall isn’t willing to give me a refund. I told them I will wait until Monday, otherwise, I will be opening a dispute.

did you call officedepot/max? i had a similar situation when i bought cards at staples. they took it upon themselves to cancel the order. i had to contact gcm to resolve the issue bc it would have cost me a promotional credit. they ended up letting me keep the cards free of charge. contact officedepot/max.

Everywhere cards work as usual for less fees. Also my local OM is matching ID to credit card for any GC purchase over $199. This is the same store that removed all gift cards last time I was in there. Such a strange store. The OD a few miles away doesn’t seem to care what or how many I buy.

Does Office Depot charge $6/$5.95 Visa Activation fee they usually have?

I am not in churning, have never bought money order, probably have no way to liquidate the cash in the card and don’t have 3% or points cards, only have Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited. In my head I pay $90 to get $100 Card and probably offload it to Amazon.com (more like $102 due to 2% extra Prime Reload) to buy Xbox Series X later this year. Am i dumb for doing it? Thanks

They charge the normal $6.95 so in essence you are paying $196.95 for $200 worth of money. If that delta is worth it for you, go for it.

For that purpose, I’d rather buy xbox gift cards and use those instead at the MS store. Easily 15-30% off.

Its fine as long as you buy $100 or more — “Save $10 instantly when you buy $100 or more in Visa Gift Cards”

You would be better off buying 2 $100 visa cards (assuming the store lets you do multiple transactions).

By buying 2 $100 visa cards, it only knocks down $10 per transaction. Need to do single transactions for the $10 off

The stores in my area only allow 1 card per store per day.
I buy the everywhere cards and walk away with $125 in my pocket when its all done. If i would of heard this earlier today, i would of made an extra $11

$194.95 x 11 cards. The card earn 3% at office max. Of course, there is a fee for the money order. Rounding down, its $125

1 card per store per day. I go to 2 stores 5 days and 1 store on the 6th day. Not really worth my time but i get bored.

you would be better off to buy 1x $200 Everyday card because of the additional earning on the extra $100.

Besides, ODOM discount is ONE per transaction, regardless how you structure it (different from Staples when each $200 card would have zero activation fee.)

In general, best to purchase 1 x $200 per transaction for scaling this. For example, if an OD limits you to 2 transactions per day: 2 separate trans of $200 will net you more than 2 separate trans of $100 on a 5% cashback CC.
