Our Verdict

I’m not sure exactly where to find this, might be app-only. Remember to save the offer first to your card before use. You won’t get fuel points on Visa/MC gift cards. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases. This version of the offer has worked in the past on the variable-load cards.

Just remember there’ve been issues with Mastercard gift cards which might still be the case.

William Charles  Chuck deal is back, expires 5/12, $10 off $100+ so should work on variables. Limit one unfortunately. But with all the cards adding grocery benefits, might be helpful.

Deal is now dead if you didn’t add it already

Never works for me on variable load cards — only the $100 card triggers the $10 back. (My grocery also has a max of $200 on the variable load cards, which is what I tried. Twice now didn’t work. I won’t make the mistake again.)

I tried buying a variable load and the $10 coupon did NOT show up. Didn’t complete the purchase. Went back, got a $100 card, and the $10 discount instantly appeared. Just my experience, you’re welcome to try $500 but I didn’t want to make a fuss. We’ll see plenty of gift card deals with the holidays approaching anyway.

Interesting. Because it clearly states: “When you buy $100 or more in Mastercard gift cards.”

the new ones don’t trigger, use the pink if you want no hassle.

Hopefully someone can confirm. The discount did NOT apply on the new celebration packaging.
I didn’t check if the one was issued by MetaBank. Regular yellow and pink cards still work fine

Still out 1,500 from last MCGC fiasco disputed with bh. Not touching this until that resolves.

Anybody trying to drain these on Venmo? I can successfully add the card, but then get a transaction declined notice when trying to transfer. Same story on a Safeway VGC purchased during the last deal.

Check your card balance to be sure it was not drained completely along with the transaction decline…that’s what happened to many people with MCGCs recently (not necessarily when liquidating to Venmo, lots of this with buying MOs).

Yeah, card balances on MCGC and VGC are still intact and have been able to use on other transactions without issue.

Venmo route dead for MCGC. Last working transaction I have on my spreadsheet is back from September. It died around sept/oct time. I’m doing this 4 player mode, all family members are able to add to venmo but unable to complete a transaction. My nephew has a legitimate account that’s many years ago with all organic transaction – i had him add a MCGC and it was the same for him. Able to add, but transaction always failed.

ithrowpoop very much appreciate the DPs! Do you think this is being suppressed by Venmo or MetaBank? Seems weird for Venmo to continue to say they accept GCs, so guessing maybe MetaBank shut these Venmo transactions down to mitigate fraud.

I think venmo, as they lose money on each transaction. meta could probably care less, they get paid just the same. If it was meta, paypal would be blocked too but it isn’t.

ithrowpoop Called MetaBank and confirmed it’s them. Venmo MCC codes as money-order/cash-advance/cash-equivalents, so they block it on their closed-end GCs (VGC and MCGC).
