The Offer

Direct link to offers are below

The Safeway deals are usually at Von’s, Albertson’s, Randall’s, Tom Thumb, Acme, Shaw’s, and Jewel too.

The Fine Print

  • Expires September 26, 2020
  • Limit 1 per household per digital coupon

Our Verdict

I’d recommend saving this offer sooner rather than later because the coupons disappear before the end date. Also just a reminder that you don’t earn fuel points on these purchases and remember to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

I tried redeeming this offer in Safeway store. But the offer did not show up after tagging my phone number on the pinpad. This is 2nd instance of not picking the offer. Has this happened to anyone before?

Thnx.

Do the variable cards work if loading more than $100/$50 or do they have to be $100 or $50 gift cards? My Vons has allowed purchase of variable gift cards with CCs in the past.

It has to be exact values of $100/$50 to avail this offer

Can you buy VGC’s with a VGC?

Depends on your store (mine asks to compare the name on the credit card to my ID), but is it really worth it to make $3?

Didn’t get to do it on all of my accounts last week, one store told me no more than $100 of gift card purchases on a credit card. Hopefully I’ll have better luck at a different store where I just bought last week

Update — went to the store where I bought last week and the girl at CS had no problem letting me charge them. Just asked to see my ID and matched it to my credit card.

I also have a $5 off $5 grocery coupon (exp. 9/17) on one of the accounts I normally don’t use at Shaw’s. A lot of times, I see $5 off $50 offered on just that particular account or 2 rewards on $50 grocery spend, so it’s worth checking if you have multiple accounts. It’ll be listed in the “Special Offers” section of the Deals tab.

Also, GC Galore already posted about it, but there are digital offers for 10x rewards on Domino’s $20+ in GCs (exp. 9/24) and Red Robin $50+ in GCs (exp. 9/21)

Does this work on variable cards? Or it’s only for fixed values? Thanks

But wait, if there’s a $6 fee for each card, wouldn’t you lose $2 with the $50 cards and only “earn” $3 for spending $200 (before any special grocery bonuses, like CSR or Blue Card Preferred)?

iirc, they’re 4.95 for $50 gc and 5.95 for $100 gc. some of us are also using the cashapp 10% grocery boost to get 7.50 back. so, after the boost, i paid 92.40 for 2x$50 gc the 1st wk, and 189.40 for 2x$100 gc the next wk.

can you use other credit cards with CashApp for Boost or you have to use their debit card to get the Boost?

You HAVE to use the cashapp debit card.

you have to use the cashapp debit card. so, you have to do the math and see if you’d earn more w cashapp or another card. for me, cashapp earns me more money on those deals.

Don’t forget you can split tender and just charge $75 to your Cash debit to max that deal with the balance on your $/point earning card of choice.

at my store, the cashier has to come over and approve the gc purchase. is there a way to split tender yourself, or do they have to do it? i try to limit cashier interaction on any normal day, especially during covid. so, may not be worth it for this small amt.

I don’t think it’s possible to split tender at self-checkout (at least, that’s what a Vons cashier told me). But it’s easy for a cashier to do it at regular checkout.

For only $200 spend u need to do 2 swipes to offload. I rather just pay $6 fee for $500 spend and 1 swipe to offload.

I always use those cards organically, e.g. in Costco. So I almost never use my Citi Costco card.

Really wish they would bring back the $10 off $100 or more offer. With that being said, off to Safeway I go
