[YMMV] Staples: Purchase $300 In Visa Gift Cards & Get $20 Visa Gift Card (7/21-7/28) [Not Found in Ad]

Update 2: Looks like the rebate is posting at the end of the receipt but still with the weird dates. Not 100% sure what’s going on just yet, I think it will be honored regardless but obviously not 100% sure and not sure how much effort you’ll need to go through to get it honored.

There are some concerns about the legitimacy of this promotion. It’s not showing up in the rebate center or on the weekly ad, there are some other inconsistencies as well. My suggest would be to wait until Staples opens/rebate shows on the site before heading to Staples yourself. I’m sure readers will comment if they were able to get the promotion or not.

The Offer

  • Get a $20 Visa gift card via Staples Easy Rebates when you buy $300 in Visa gift cards at a Staples store

This offer is not showing in the weekly ad,  (for whatever reason not showing via this method either: but can be found here with the search Blackhawk Network or rebate ID 17-99869. Valid on SKUs: 763604, 763602, 374172, 763607, 374177, 866291).

The Fine Print

  • Valid 7/21-7/28
  • In-store only
  • Limit one rebate per household

Our Verdict

Strange that these aren’t showing in the weekly ads anymore, same thing happened with the last promotion for $15 for $300. These deals are really great when you’re earning 5x points on office supply store purchases. Learn more about Staples Easy Rebates in this post. As always, be sure to use a credit card that earns bonus points for office supply stores.

Hat tip to @JonathanChen77 for making me realize this isn’t an instant discount as originally thought

After calling and mailing in photos, I was told they’d manually process it and I received a message like yours. 2 hours later I received an automated message stating the rebate is invalid. Trying again

Has anyone had any further success in getting staples to honor this rebate? I’ve got two denials.

They seem to be approving it now, just email them back fighting it and they will send you a check

Spoke to customer service via chat as my rebate reflected invalid because of the sales data did not process in their system. Was instructed to email: [email protected]

After one business day, I received a response stating that they created a new tracking number and that my $20.00 will be sent out in 15 days.

Mine printed out with the March dates but also the following,

Rebate Begin Date: 07/21/2017
Rebate End Date: 07/28/2017

I filed the rebate online when this first started and am waiting for it to process.

On Friday I bought more. (I normally give these rebates to family members by filing at their addresses in their names. Yes they are true gifts where I get nothing but the points.) When I tried to file on Friday I got the message that it couldn’t find a rebate because “eligibility yet to be determined” as others have mentioned. I tried again daily.

Today I called and after 20 minutes on hold was told I can’t submit it online due to the March dates. I asked how they can print March dates on a July rebate or deny me given what’s on the form, or even print the form in the first place. It’s not the strongest argument, but I was told I have to send in paperwork for them to investigate. Also from the conversation I had, I think this all processed by Blackhawk or an affiliate, not Staples. I’m not expecting much.

IMHO this is worth fighting for since the Rebate Form printed when you bought it.
You can argue why did the rebate form print last week ?
Depends how long you want to fight for $20.

Thank you for the information provided. However, I have verified that the products purchased are not longer eligible for the rebate due to the purchase of the product was made out of the purchase date range stated on the Terms & Conditions of the offer you want apply for. In order for you to apply for the promotion ”Get a $20 Visa (R) Prepaid Card on a Purchase of $300 or more of Visa Gift Cards (SKUs 763604, 763602, 374172, 763607, 374177, 866291) at Staples Stores ONLY”, you had to purchase the visa Gift Cards between March 12, 2017 through March 18, 2017.

Hi Steven, (kaiotes) Saw what appear to be your posts re. that other thread, including your report of a follow-up, and another rep. being more understanding….. (and over-riding initial denial)

That “not longer eligible” verbiage a hint of a low level rep. “winging it”….
