Our Verdict
Airbnb fees seem to be out of control at the moment, so this either helps with these or makes the offer useless depending on how you look at it.

Amex Offer Datapoint (answers question posed by @ash below): I booked a stay at AirBnB for Canada. Used gift cards already added to my account and the remaining balance was greater than $500. I made sure that my prices were displayed in USD (not CAD) so my Amex was billed accordingly (per the offer terms). I received the Amex email confirmation offer 2 days later.
I hope this helps someone take advantage of a great deal (even if AirBnB’s fees have gotten out of control)
On my app it says a minimum of 1 or more purchases of $500. But no mentioned in the offer terms. I have to book 3 different stays that makes more than $500. Should it work or maybe call an amex rep to find out
Booked a $600 place but still haven’t gotten the Amex email “Congrats you used an offer” after 4 hours. Usually it’s immediate. Anyone receive the email?
In my experience, those trigger emails are inconsistent. Usually I get them immediately, and sometimes I get them later on. Every once in a while, I don’t get one at all. (All this, in instances where the offer ultimately tracked.)
if I book a room in a foreign country, is the currency USD?
I would never get targeted for this offer because I use airbnb every month 🙁

Does anyone have a recent DP on whether AirBnB gift cards can be used to pay off a remaining balance when a credit card was used to pay a deposit on a reservation? I know this was definitely not possible until last year, but there is contradictory information on the internet about whether this is now allowed.
I was able to do this as of October 2022. The gift cards load to the account as a credit that you can toggle on to apply to the remaining balance.

Yep. I did a test with a small amount first. I was able to apply 3 credits to one payment – I’m not sure what the limit is as far as how many credits you can apply at one time.
You can go through the payment process but stop right before submitting the payment. The screen will show the gift card credits partially offsetting the payment due. I didn’t actually make the payment until I had accumulated all of my gift cards and added them to my account.
Confirming that as of today 11/1/22 you can apply Airbnb Gift Cards to a remaining balance. Bought $250 worth of gift card on BestBuy since they had a $25 cash back for Amex Gold on $250 worth of purchase. Worked on my second payment that was coming up tomorrow!
