Our Verdict
This deal comes around every year at this time of year. Unfortunately the fees on these cards are quite high and it’s not possible to set a pin. I believe the best way to do this offer is to choose a customized gift card and change the gift card amount to $198, then use a code that waives the purchase fee. You will then be charged a $2 shipping fee to bring your total to $200. I don’t think there is a current code that waives purchase fees, if anybody knows of one then let us know.

100% Off Purchase Fees On Business Gift Cards Code: AXP1EMBUS2018
The smallest shipping fee I see is Standard for $5.95. This and the code make it possible to buy $195 business gc for $190.95 (= $195 + $5.95 shipping – $10 amex offer),
Found another code for no purchase fee on business gift cards: AXPBUSHOL18
Yet another code for no fees on business gift cards: 18EMAILBUS2
i know that doing this does not count towards min spend for signup. But anyone know whether buying Amex GCs would towards an Amex spend offer? here is the offer:

Buy a $197 gift card.
They add $6.95 in purchase fees. Running total is $203.95.
Use a promo code like AXP1EM2018 or phone501 to save $3.95. Running total is $200.
Receive $10 statement credit. Running total is $190.
I pay $190 for a $197 gift card, saving 3.6%.
I need a bigger promo code.
You didn’t account for the shipping cost.
I didn’t see one when I wen through the purchase. How much is it? Could I be a part of the ‘purchase fee’?
Same. No shipping fee for me so I did what you did, Onsale.
Correction to my previous post. I had a $8.95 expedited fee for the cheapest shipping. Not worth it.
Will this count towards min spend??
Gift cards do not count towards for min spend on AMEX cards.
Thanks Calvin.
How would you liquidate thus?
By spending it organically.
This is not gonna count for min spend on an Amex card correct ?
Gift cards do not count towards for min spend on AMEX cards.
According to this blog:
https://www.moneysmylife.com/amex-gift-card-promo-code/
The code phone501 will save you $3.95 off the purchase fees.
When I went to buy one $192 gift card amex wanted to charge me $5.95 for standard shipping fees.
This appears to be a poor deal since at best you will end up buying a $192 gift card for $190.95 after everything is said and done. Unless a code comes along that will waive all of either the shipping or card fees i’ll pass.
Try this: $25*6 and $45*1. Still bad deal but a little bit better than a $200 GC
I got an email for $3.95 off purchase fees using code AXP1EM2018
