Our Verdict
Late last year it was announced that fine hotels & resorts bookings would earn 5x on prepaid bookings for Platinum cardholders. There was some concern that because a prepaid rate was required that these would not earn hotel points/elite night credits but American Express confirmed that isn’t the case. This offer also requires a prepaid booking, so you should still earn hotel points and elite night credits. FHR bookings come with some additional benefits:
- Noon check-in, when available
- Room Upgrade upon arrival, when available
- Daily breakfast for two people
- Complimentary in room Wi-Fi
- Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
- Unique amenity valued at US$100, such as a food and beverage credit or one way private sedan transfer
I’d recommend price comparing to ensure you’re getting a good deal but this extra 16,000 in points could tip it over the edge for some people.

Not targeted on either my Platinum or its AU cards, or my Business Platinum. Any idea how to get targetted for this?
FYI DOC while Amex says their prepaid rates get elite credits or points that is not true at Marriott.
You can find some great Fine Hotel and Resort deals right now. The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Arizona, $139 a night. $100 F&B credit along with free breakfast.
