Before I got my Platinum card (which I canceled after 1 year), I always thought that these offers were good worldwide. Unfortunately, I think that the “American” in “American Express” means that all of these offers are only good within the US.

Other cards like the CSR, when they have such offers, are most often worldwide. As someone who resides overseas, having the CSR is a much better benefit than Amex.

Most of the same hotels would be on Amex FHR/Virtuoso. In such cases by using this Amex offer to pay for room only, would lose complimentary breakfast, $100 f&b credit, probable room upgrade, and early/late checkout.

If losing all these to save $60, no thanks!
