[Expired] [Targeted] AmEx Offers: Dell, Get $120/12,000 Points With $599 Purchase (Stack With 5 Other AmeEx Offers)

Deal has ended, view more AmEx offers by clicking here.

The Offer

  • Get $120 statement credit when spending $599 at Dell.com in one or more transactions on an enrolled American Express card by 7/31/2020.
  • Others got a similar offer, but for 12,000 Membership Rewards points in place of the $120 statement credit.

Our Verdict

So many Dell deals from Amex, it’s hard to keep track of them and figure out how to maximize. This offer seems much more targeted than a lot of the other ones.

Ideally, you’d have this offer on your Business Platinum card which the 4 x $100 credit card benefit credits + the 10% back offer + the 4x MR offer + the 1x MR offer. In practice, I haven’t yet seen reports of anyone who got this on the Business Platinum card.

Worth keeping in mind that Dell allows payment with three different credit cards. So it’s not too important to have all the offers on one card: at checkout, you can put $200 on the Business Platinum, $599 on the card with this offer, and the remainder on a card which has the 10% Amex offer or the 4x Amex Offer saved. Go through a shopping portal as well.

Anyone have a recommendation for a travel laptop that meets the $600 spend? Looking for best value.

I also bought Dell Memory Upgrade – 8GB – 1RX8 DDR4 SODIMM 3200MHz to put it over $599.

I also got a 10% discount by subscribing to promotions. You will find comments on the 10% they slick deals.

FWIW the ram is over priced by like $40. But I called dell and the sales agent discounted the laptop by $50 and applied my 10% code so that made the deal just about the same including the shopping portal 4% opportunity.

Since the terms for the offer includes phone orders I didn’t see a reason not to.

$639 final charge after tax before 120 credit so $519. But I will have a 16 GB ram. To try and future feature it a tad.

Thank you! Is there a way to add the RAM via online checkout?

Yes, search this “Dell Memory Upgrade – 8GB – 1RX8 DDR4 SODIMM 3200MHz” it’s $97

There’s another way, it’s technically a better Value deal but a bit of a hassle:

Just add like an HDMI cable or useful accessory to get the price after tax 599 and buy the ram from amazon for $55.

Then stack topcashback portal for 4%. You will come out ahead by like $5 But there’s no guarantee the ram works without issues. I bet it works fine but I’m not certain that’s why I went with dell.

Plus sales rep got me really close over the phone with a $50 discount. I don’t regret not getting the shopping portal, plus they take months to redeem.

Does anyone tried to use AmEx offer on the last day? DELL delayed my shipping and it’s going to arrive in July 31st.

I believe you get charged when it ships not when it arrives. So you should be fine. If it’s shipped after the expiration, I would chat with Amex and see if they honor it because you couldn’t control their shipping and charging procedures.

I got the offer for 12,000 MR plus the 1 extra MR on my personal Gold card. You mention that a shopping portal should be used but the fine print on my offer says “transactions through 3rd party payment processors are excluded”. Should I avoid using a portal such as TopCashBack? I don’t want to miss out on the 13,200 MR because they’re worth about $280 to me. Any advice is appreciated.

You should be fine. What that means is don’t use PayPal or other third-party payment processors as the transaction won’t be coming directly from Dell so they can’t automatically detect it and give points. AMEX Offers don’t care about cashback sites, only what is posted on the transaction.

Uuugh. The timing for me is awful here. I literally JUST bought a new DELL laptop a week and a half ago. I called them to ask to change the payment to my Amex (as they hadn’t charged me yet) and was told “it is impossible” for them to change the payment method.
Has anyone ever been successful getting it changed?

Is this a Single use offer or can it be used more than once? (I.e. in July we credits reset).

‘in one or more transactions’

Just re-read it ” get a one time” so no double dip in July unless it hits one of P2 cards.

Yes the deal itself can be done once, but you can spread it over multiple purchases.

Rare that I get AO that break in a beneficial way.

Got the $599 AO on Personal Plat (with MSR upgrade bonus) .

Also have 10% off AO on both Biz Plat one has an extra 1MR. Stack with Dell 2% MR at Rakuten.

So with Dell Biz credits we can get a Laptop/TV priced at $1,040 with AO that will cost $480 on Personal Plat (not including AF or subtracting MR /SUB or other Platinum credits). But that’s also 9.6% of MSR for upgrade bonus.

Would have rather had the 12K MR AO worth $150 cash out on CS Plat.

I got the 120 dollar offer on my Hilton Aspire but can’t think of anything useful to buy from the dell website. Any suggestions

Something you can resell. Check ebay or your local craigslist.

The T&C doesn’t say but does anyone know whether 599 includes taxes?

Whatever the final charge is to your Amex is what counts. May or may not include taxes
