[Targeted] Amex Offers: Spend $300 On Air Travel, Get $50 Back

The Offer

  • Get a one-time $50 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $300 or more on purchases made directly with any airline by 10/31/16

The Fine Print

  • Valid until October 31st, 2016
  • Must enroll in this offer to be eligible, no public hashtag currently available

Our Verdict

Last time they offered the airline offer it was spend $300, get $75 back so not quite as good. I guess you might be able to stack this with the Delta offer as well (spend $1,000 and get $200 back).

Bought a $301 gift card at SWA and immediately got the email credit.

Can you buy a fully refundable ticket and then cancel it say 6 months later and still keep the statement credit?

I don’t know about flights, but the last time Amex had an offer for Amtrak I bought a refundable ticket that I ended up needing to cancel. The refund went back to my Amex, and Amex also clawed back the original offer credit.

The offer doesnt show up on your charge cards plat or gold. They already have the credit. I am almost sure thats the case unless sometime tells us they got it on their plat or gold. Lucky them.

How would you get a $300 charge reimbursed as an airline fee?

Does anyone know if this will work with United MileagePlus X and buying a $300 Amazon gift card?

I tried. No instant confirm email so I’m guessing it’s a no-go this time.

Chuck, I’ve seen at least one DP that buying GC from MPX eventually worked although no confirm email ever got sent. I just made some purchase on my card and am hoping for the best. I wonder if you have got the $50 credit yet. Thanks
