Note: The terms say ‘Offer available only to eligible recipients who receive this promotion directly from Langley through the new member acquisition direct mail campaign’ so if you didn’t receive a mailer there is a good chance you’ll be denied the bonus. Some people want an account for the card that earns 10% ($100 cashback per month limit) so are happy to risk it.

Average daily balance below $5,000 does not qualify. Reward tiers are $50 for $5,000–$9,999.99; $150 for $10,000–$24,999.99; and $250 for $25,000 or more. - All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Neither account has any monthly fees
Early Account Termination Fee
Wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.
Our Verdict
The savings account earns 3.6% APY when you’re enrolled in eStatements and don’t make more than one withdrawal per month. That makes the savings bonus worth doing (just) as the bonus makes it an extra 2% APY for the $50 and $250 bonuses and 3% for the $150 bonus. Others will prefer to stick to their favorite high yield savings account. The checking bonus is better than the previous referral bonus, although keep in mind the targeted language. Because of that targeted language we won’t add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.
