There is a new targeted AmEx offer where you can get 3,000 Membership Rewards points or $30 when you spend $70 or more in one or more transaction on Sun Basket. Sun Basket is one of those food delivery companies where they send you all the ingredients + a recipe for the meal.

Our Verdict

If you use a referral link you can get your first three meals free (actually seems to be a flat $35 discount?). Pricing is as follows:

I don’t see any good ways to spend exactly $70 or near to $70 exactly. If you purchased the family menu 2 recipes per week for 4 people that would be ~$80 but then you’re not getting the three free meals from the referral. If anybody works out a good way to do it then let us know in the comments. Also feel free to share your referrals in the comments, just also share your experiences with Sun Basket.

Update: Reader Josh suggests the following:

1st order – Account #1 (wife) – 2x family with $35 off = $45 on Amex
2nd order – Account #2 (husband) – 3x classic with $35 off = $34 on Amex

You pay $79, get 14 meals and also 3,000 MR. If anybody can do better let us know in the comments.

I followed Will’s advice above and bought gifts of 3 meals for 2 per card. The total was 74.93 and the 30 credit posted the same day as the gift. If anyone was behind on looking into this deal and didn’t start, that’s the only way left to trigger the deal.

Reminder – it’s almost last chance to jump on this Amex offer.

I placed two orders this morning for myself and my wife using Josh’s method. Used one of the referral codes from here to open my account and then referred my wife so hope for the $25 credit will post after delivery.

Both $35 credits seem to have applied correctly despite the same billing/delivery address and same credit card. Used different email and different phone number.

The earliest delivery day at the moment is 7/24. The cut-off to make changes to the order is 7/20 so I expect they’ll charge the card either 7/20 or 7/21 which is good for the Amex Offer.

Can someone confirm that this worked for one person to refer someone else in the same household (same address and credit card), and successfully get the discount on both orders and thus spend enough to trigger the Amex offer? I ask because some of these meal companies limit the sign-up bonuses to once per address.

I’ve given it a try and it pretty good. I like it that they allow you to order multiples of the same recipe, and the fact that they have lots of high protein/low carb meals (body builder here lol).
