Use this Capital One Venture Signup Link with $59 Annual Fee + 50k Bonus

We posted yesterday about an increased 50,000 bonus for the Capital One Venture card. At the same time, they increased the annual fee from $59 to $95. Reader Yet Another Redditor tells us that there is still some links which show the $59 annual fee and still show the increased 50k bonus.

Direct Link to $59 offer

Bear in mind, none of this matters if you plan to cancel at year’s end before paying the annual fee. However, if you plan on keeping the card, try using the $59 and hope they leave you grandfathered at that rate for a long time.

I imagine a lot of people will try applying now due to the increased bonus, and you might as well go for the $59 link.

Nice find. Thank you Chuck.

The only reason I wouldn’t go for the offer, CapOne likes to pull all 3 CRs

So freeze one.

Recent DPs have said that this doesn’t work anymore.

There are data points where they froze a bureau and got approved.

And no aspirational card pulls Transunion.

My guidelines:
EX/EQ – Make sure the bonus/card is worth ~$300-400 per pull.
Transunion – Make sure the hassle is worth the bonus/card per pull.

TU pulls are based on location. In PA chase always double pulls be, TU/EX.

Same here in Michigan.

Bingo, Chase pulls TU for me, every single time. Some banks absolutely vary by region.

Dee

Living in the midwest, I have had far more creditors pull TU over Equifax! Really depends on your location.

Be careful with Cap one. They wouldnt approve my application with equifax frozen and they also wouldnt approve my dads application with just his experian frozen. He is in recon now but i’m SOL

Asking an honest question: Other than the generous sign up bonus, why would this be preferred over something like Citi Double Cash where still 2% back, but not restricted to redeem for travel and no AF? TIA!

I think the signup bonus is the entire point. Most of these posts are for churners, not for someone looking at this for their everyday spend. Otherwise a card with 2% or more straight cash back would be a better deal.

No foreign transaction fee for one. Also this is a Visa so it’s good at Costco.

CtownBin

Yeah, but the Fidelity card is also 2% cash back and also a Visa good at Costco, and also no AF. And with a foreign fee of only 1%, theres no way the AF on the Venture makes up for that, especially since most of us have other cards with no FTF.
This card is worth it for the bonus only, almost everyone here will cancel after first year even with $59 AF.

is there a minimum $$ redemption? like Barclays Arrival+ can only be redeem for $100+ in travel spend.

T

Yea off the top of my head I think minimum redemption is only $25 (2500 points). Please double check yourself.

If you check Reddit, I think there were two approvals, so be very careful. Tons and tons of denials.

JL

a lot of them also has had obscene # / 24, including one with 42/24 (wow).

but agree, very concerning about the low rate of approval.

Dima
Dima

42/24 is not that unusual in the churning community.

Avi

Don’t call it obscene…. call it lol/24. Do you even churn bruh?

JL

lol, clearly not in comparison to these numbers.

I was denied for this card a couple months ago. The reason : I didn’t carry balances on my credit cards and was not a customer they are targeting?! Wife got the same rejection letter.

What does the “same day” part of “Capital One will merge multiple inquiries if you apply for multiple credit cards in the same day. Just keep in mind that they’ll still pull from all three credit bureaus.” mean exactly? Does “in the same day” mean within 24 hours, or in the same calender day? Cuz if it’s the former, I plan to cancel my QuickSilver and go for the new Savor card.

Never mind. Seems the new one card every 6 months restriction makes it a moot point.

Denied they suck. High income high credit score, a lot of pulls. Don’t waste your time.

DP: Wife denied. Had closed the Venture last month after having it for a year. Bummer.

Was at 6/6 inquiries 2 in the current month.

Denied. Have Exp/EQ frozen. Should I unfreeze EQ and call recon? Apply again?

did you have a bureau frozen?

what’s different between today and 2 months ago?

David

Yea Alliant credit union signature cash visa credit card is a lot better, 3% cash back on everything for the first year 2.5% thereafter, no foreign transaction fees, 59 annual fee waived for the first year. Credit Unions or least some have better credit cash back benefits!

Got approved.. 8/24.. TU – 686,, EQ – 678 as per CreditKarma.. none frozen.. this card was recommended when I checked for pre-qualified offer

Matt Katakis

I’m guessing if I’m not prequalified for this card in their system my odds aren’t high of getting it?

Denied. 10/24. Credit score > 800. #&Q&)*@#&%*&)! Will it still hard pull all 3 bureaus?

So far they have been.

I’d prefer the higher annual fee. I’d also prefer a higher interest rate, for the same reason. 😉
