Our Verdict

In previous years the bonus has been $100 with no direct deposit requirement. Because the direct deposit is only required for the last $50, the bonus is actually better than before (or the same if you have no intention of going for that bit of the bonus). It looks like it’s a soft pull to open, although there is that one DP of a hard pull so something to keep in mind. I’ll add this to the best bank bonus page but with a warning regarding that.

Big thanks to reader, Samuel Adams who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

Any recent DPs of a HP or not? I passed last year because in branch they were gonna HP me

+1

There was no hard pull when I did it last year (I applied online). I don’t know if anything has changed since then.

Thanks I’ll check it out!

did you end up applying? if so, hard or soft pull & did they allow CC funding? thanks!

I just app-ed, allowed credit card funding. Will post about hard pull.

How much in CC funding did they allow?

how much were you allowed to fund with a credit card?

I CC funded with 100. I have no need for higher spend at the moment. My app is pending.

What ever happened to your app?

I funded $2000 with CitiDC

Outside of MN/WI, you should be able to join by joining their TruStone Financial Foundation. I was also told by them that it would be a HP on EX, so YMMV.

yes…I did join by joining TruStone Financial Foundation being out of state (with an in-state address)

Wait, how can you be out of state but have an instate address?

Shot them an e-mail and the CSR said that it’s a hard pull plus they use Chex.

Spoke to two different representatives — one via facebook and another via email and both said that it would be a soft pull only. Applied on 7/13, approved 7/16.

DP: bonuses are posted very quickly — next day it appears. For example I received my debit card 7/30, did 5x$0.50 cent amazon reloads same day and received $50 bonus 7/31.

Definitely recommend doing if you’re eligible.

Pinged a CSR, they offer $2,000 in credit card funding, looks like Visa/MC only. It looks like the form recognizes AmEx, but won’t let you put in the full card number.

Can confirm. Just funded $1995+5 with the CitiDC. Account went to pending but funding appears to have worked. Got a call from a rep there that indicated it worked and account was open.

I’m at 24/12 so i dont think they’re chex sensitive

Applied, pending, approved. No sign of hard pull. Funded with $2000 Visa.

good man. $2000 funding certainly sweetens the offer

Can confirm that Serve works as a DD. Circle Pay and Cash App work for the debit requirements too.

Another DP: Ally does not work for DD since it doesn’t code as PPD.

Interestingly their backend seems to be the same as the one Incredible Bank uses. I would assume that DD DPs that worked for IB should work here as well.

I tried Alliant, nothing. Did one (so far) real employer DD of $260 last week (around day 20). Another will go next week, but that will be beyond the 30 days. My $50 each for e-statements and 5+ debits showed up two days after completion. I’ll SM about the $50 if it doesn’t show after next payday.

Chase Freedom $1005 deposit posted as purchase. No sign yet of hard pull.

CitiDC with CA limit of 0$ went through for $2000 too.

No hard pull for sure with online app. All 3 offers post within 1 day after fulfilling each requirement. DD seems to require 2 deposits (e.g recurring); the bonus for that posts when the second DD is made. The only annoying part was a follow up phone call to online app and going in to get debit card because they did not mail it like I requested on that phone call. My DD was real so no data point on that from me.

Does the second DD have to be within 30 days? If using employer, I assume that will be difficult.

Completed the requirements and then called in on day 61. They said I only had 3 debit card transactions. I asked them if the CFPB would be needed to determine the amount of debit card transactions. They credited me $150 immediately. I have never seen an instant manual distribution before. Awesome.

so what was the verdict on opening account out of state without any in state address? IS that allowed? Thanks

Just a warning…I never got the $50 for doing the debits cause they never sent me a debit card. $100 is still worth it IMHO, but The More You Know

Applied for these dudes a few weeks ago. Did it to knock out $2k funding. They denied me. Found out by calling in when trying to grease the application. Then they never sent me a letter. I might try again now with the bonus.

Any luck with this? When you applied, did they say why you were denied? How many inquiries did you have on Chex and EWS? Curious if they’re sensitive or not.

I called to push application through. He said person who could do approval wasn’t in yet. Same guy called me back a couple hours later told me I was denied and that’s all he could say at that time. Never got a letter which of course is violation, must send adverse notice. These guys are small time, relatively small credit union. I burned them twice in past three years on bonuses but I also open a metric ton of bank accounts so I don’t know why I was denied. But thanks for reminder. I’ll probably have my wife pound this out.

$2000 Credit Card Funding with Citi Double Cash Card has been confirmed as a purchase code

By “recurring direct deposit” do they mean 1 or 2? I would need good timing to set up the account and send 2 payroll deposits both within 30 days.

I actually emailed them about this:

“The direct deposit must total $250 within 30 days of opening. This would allow you as many small direct deposits totaling $250 or just one for $250 or more.”

very quick bonuses

11/16 – account opened in branch (I messed up my online application and they had me go in….), but they printed me a debit card on site
11/17 – enroll in e-statements +$50 deposit next day
11/20 – 5th debit posted, $50 deposit next day
11/30 – $251 employer DD, $50 posted today
