Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
First class checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find an early account termination in the fee schedule
Referral Bonus
There is also a $50 referral bonus for both parties. Last time Wings Financial offered a bonus the referral bonus and the main bonus stacked. Do not share your referrals in the comments below, you can share them in this linked posted instead. Some discussion on linking the promotions here.
Our Verdict
Previously there was a $200 bonus that didn’t require a direct deposit or a $300 + $50 bonus that did require a direct deposit. This bonus is worth doing if you can easily complete the direct deposit requirement and don’t mind the hard pull. We will add this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

is it possible to churn? and if yes what the clock? is there any list of banks list easy to churn so we can keep an eye on the clock… thanks
Is there a current bonus running on this?
Only the $50 referral bonus…I suggest waiting for bigger promotions.
Thanks. I asked because this was the second comment asking for churning terms and wanted to make sure I am not missing anything 🙂
To churn the CC funding, does the existing account have to be closed? I see that there is only funding from existing account when I tried to open new checking/saving account while logged in.
I got denied today. It denied me like halfway through the application, was solely looking to use the cc funding. Chex 3/1 14/3 23/6
1099s finally available online. The Amazon gift cards given for referrals are NOT included on the 1099.
Got it. So now is time to close I guess…going to try chat and report back.
I see the bonus is back
Link? The one in this post is still expired.
Link?
sorry just noticed the date ends on 5/31/2023.
FYI doesn’t seem possible to churn these guys for CC funding. Tried to open again(and do another $4500 in funding) but after getting halfway through was told they cannot open account for me. Bummer. I can still log in with my member ID# but when I try to add products it tells me I don’t have a share account open so I cannot add any more accounts.
Just applied for the HY Savings, Shared Savings, Free Checking, and HY free checking and got this message:
“Thank you for applying, we’ve received your application and will email you in 2 business days to finalize the process”
Is this normal? I saw that the last step was to fund my account, however, it redirected me to the message above instead. Each account above had a limit of $1500 for funding, so 6k total if you open all 4.
This is normal, application was approved today however I am unable to fund my account since my CL is only 6K and my total was 6,005.
Just got paid out referral for P2($50 for me, $50 for P2). No bonus when P2 opened, I only opened for the CC spend on a new SUB. When that didn’t work(stupid Chase) i had to use my fidelity 2%. $115 cash back for the funding, plus $100 in referral = $215 pocketed without a bonus.
Closing my account very soon in hopes that I can reopen again in a couple months and do a huge CC fund now that I know how their system works, in that it lets you try funding again and again while it opens your account in the background. It would give me time to call and yell at Chase if it doesn’t go through the first time, like what happened to P2.
which chase card doesnt work for funding? was going to use the chase ink premiere I just got
@Novacat05 What did you mean by a huge CC fund? Is it not $500? And which Chase card did not go through with the funding?

CG JoC JoC (sorry for delay)
I attempted $5750 in total funding on a newly opened Chase Ink Preferred card (CL of $6k, Cash Advance limit $250). It was denied, but due to fraud concerns. Took a few phone calls to Chase to get straightened out, but it got flagged due to age of account and that I only had like 2 transactions so far, then bam one for thousands. After a few attempts to get in touch with someone helpful who speaks English at Chase, they assured me that the card was now fully activated/confirmed and it would work. I didn’t try Wings again, but did get $3k to go through for a US Bank business account bonus a couple weeks later.
Shortly I am going to attempt to re-open Wings for myself(I closed it on 9/8) and see if I can ring up just short of $5k again on a Chase Ink Preferred(only $5k credit limit) I opened a month ago for myself(same SUB, $8k spend). If that doesn’t work I dunno if I want to bother opening an account just for spend. Fidelity 2% I know does work, and just under $5k nets me almost $100 for nothing, just have to have the account sit idle again.
In short, as far as I know, Chase cards will work for Wings funding and code as purchase, but YMMV with your card’s age and limits if it flags as fraud on Chase’s end.
This bank is TERRIBLE. Uptight and strict with what counts as dd.
I’ll be adding this to my list of Never Again.
I submitted an NCUA claim on August 4 after completing legit DDs in June (but not July). Received a letter from Wings’ General Counsel last week regarding the claim. They reiterated that I didn’t have active DDs as of August 1 and were denying my bonus. I’m going to close my account and move on.
I also submitted a NCUA claim, but have not heard back. I have been going back and forth with Wings and they told me the active DDs are the issue and my bonus is denied. I don’t understand how those folks earlier got the bonus with a non-active DD.
I don’t have much hope.
From the bank today: We are sorry to hear that you filed an NCUA complaint. Your account has been reviewed and you didn’t meet the requirements of the of the promotion as your last deposit was credited on 06/09/2023 and the direct deposit requirement was that the direct deposit needed to remain active through 08/01/2023. A final decision has been made and your account will not be credited the $300
What the hell do they even mean by “active”? Is a DD on 7/1 still considered “active” as of 8/1? What about a DD on 6/30? It’s not defined.
