Our Verdict
Not sure if this is targeted towards the people who have done the $100 personal checking bonus, or open to everybody as long as you use the promo code. If anybody goes for this deal then please share your experiences in the comments below. I won’t be adding this to the best bank account bonuses until we know if it’s open to everybody or not.

Post history:
- Update 5/25/20: Deal has been extended until December 31st, 2020. Hat tip to reader EW
- Update 3/15/20: Extended through April 30, 2020.
In branch only, requires quite a few documents https://www.1stunitedcu.org/more-for-you/financial-wellness/required-documentation-by-business-entity
It’s back thru 12/31/2021: https://www.1stunitedcu.org/business-checking
This has been extended to April 30, 2020 per email from bank. Promo code is still the same.
I went into a branch to try this today (I was targeted by e-mail, and I just completed their personal checking bonus a couple months ago). They would not let me open an account. I have a sole proprietor business, operating for 12 years, with 12 years of tax returns to prove it. The very surly, asshole representative told me that a business license is required in my city (Berkeley), even for sole proprietorships, and they wouldn’t let me open an account without it.
Can I open an account online? From the link (https://www.1stunitedcu.org/business) I can only schedule an appointment.
Also, are there any datapoints for anyone who’s able to open an account without directly sent the email?
Received this email. Opened up a personal checking on 08/13 to meet a min spend req, but i was not shooting for the 100 bonus.
>Not sure if this is targeted towards the people who have done the $100 personal checking bonus,
Unfortunately, neither me nor my P2 received this email offer 🙁 And we are both members who did the $100 checking bonus
Might drop by my local branch to see what docs are needed
