No, my missing cash back claim is still on ice until 9/14. Not feeling hopeful.

Did anybody else’s real DD not code as a Direct Deposit and just a regular deposit?

Seeing a couple DPs suggesting an issue. Adding to DPs, I used Chime (Bancorp) and it didn’t trigger Plus on 9/11. Mine coded as an ordinary transfer.

Hello I’m having a bit of an issue right now.

I sent a $500 direct deposit to myself using a real payroll company but its not showing that it’s a direct deposit. I contacted customer service and they said it was labeled a “deposit” and they said they would create a ticket and to wait.

In the meantime, anybody know why?

No, to get the Rakuten cash back, signing up requires you click through the Rakuten link.

Like Beth, I had a long journey. My DP for SoFi via Rakuten + Chime: 7/30 Signed up for SoFi through Rakuten, expecting $300 from SoFi for depositing $5k in 25 days and $425 from Rakuten for an initial deposit of at least $500 in 45 days. Held off on an opening deposit to avoid accidentally invalidating the Rakuten bonus like some others did. 40,000 Amex MR ($400) pending on Rakuten. 8/4 Signed up for Chime using Swagbucks/referral link. Opening deposit of $25 via one of my debit cards. Linked it via Plaid, which gave access to my Barclays savings account and SoFi. Pending 700 points on Swagbucks for signing up for Chime. Signed up for the Rakuten SoFi Plus bonus; an oversight on my part, as it was only 250 MR ($25) at that time. 8/5 Linked Chime to Ally and Schwab by initiating the process NOT on Chime’s side, but via the Schwab and Ally websites, using micro deposits. That way I could push funds to Chime and then push to SoFi. 8/9 Activated my SoFi debit card. 8/11 Activated my Chime debit card. 8/13 First real DD hit both my Chime and SoFi accounts, via the Early Payday function as the paycheck original date was 8/15 (Friday). $200 real DD to Chime, which gave me a referral bonus of $100 right away. $2k real DD to SoFi. Chime Plus and SoFi Plus activated. 8/14 Pushed $3K from Ally to Chime. 8/15 35,000 Swagbucks pending from the Chime direct deposit. (Actual date of my first real DD paycheck) 8/19 Pushed $3k from Chime to SoFi to hit the $5K DD requirement in 25 days. Shows on SoFi as “Direct Deposit Payer / CHIME FINPLAT”. Looking up my Chime account routing number shows that I’m under Stride. 8/20 250 MR confirmed on Rakuten for SoFi Plus. (1 week after my 8/13 first real DD deposit) 8/27 Real DD to my SoFi account of $2.6k from an Early Payday deposit for my 8/29 paycheck, which would’ve made me slightly short on the $5k requirement if not for the $3k deposit from Chime on 8/19. 8/28 40k MR confirmed on Rakuten for the SoFi signup/deposit bonus. (2 weeks after my 8/13 first real DD deposit) 9/4 700 Swagbucks from the Chime signup confirmed. (1 month after signup) 9/9 $300 SoFi signup bonus posted. Unless I’m mistaken, this is 25 calendar days from the actual paycheck date of 8/15, rather than the early payday deposit of 8/13. Or if we’re counting from 8/13, this is 3 business days after the 25 calendar days elapsed. 9/15 Expected confirmation date for the 35,000 Swagbucks from the Chime direct deposit. (1 month after actual paycheck date of my first real DD) 11/15 Expected payout date for the total 42,500 MR in Rakuten. Since Rakuten pays out every 3 months, looks like they’re basing this on my first real DD/paycheck date of 8/15 rather than the Early Payday deposit date of 8/13? Total Earned: $100 via… Read more »

Accidentally signed up through SoFi’s link on their website… not through Rakuten… any chances? Or did I completely forfeit Rakuten’s bonus?

Here’s my longgg story of getting SoFi and Chime bonuses.

7/30: Signed up for SoFi through Rakuten. Planned to use Wise, but saw comments coming in saying it no longer worked.

8/4: Signed up for new Chime account. Used Swagbucks and followed the method from the comments on the DoC Chime post: open a referral link but do nothing with it, then click through Swagbucks to complete the Chime sign-up.

8/6: Transferred $2,500 from my Schwab brokerage to Chime. Got the $100 Chime referral bonus and 700 Swagbucks pending. Tried to send funds to SoFi immediately but couldn’t transfer externally until the Chime debit card was activated. Worried the card might not arrive in time or the method might stop working, I changed $600 of my real employer direct deposit to SoFi.

8/8: Sent another $2,401 from Schwab to Chime. Half of the funds I’d moved from Capital One to Schwab had been on hold for a couple of days. At this point, 35,000 Swagbucks were pending, even before the money showed up in Chime.

8/11: Chime debit card finally arrived.

8/13: My $600 employer direct deposit hit SoFi, triggering 40,000 Membership Rewards points to go pending in Rakuten. Transferred $4,401 from Chime to SoFi.

9/9: The $300 SoFi bonus posted.

So many steps but came out with $1,157!

Hi, thank you for the details in your writeup! If Chime works to get the SoFi bonus, could you please detail exactly how you sent the money? My work screwed up my DD so I cannot depend on the full $5k making it in enough time.
I just want to make sure there’s no special Chime account, or sending option I need to select to make sure the money codes as ACH, or whatever needed to trigger the bonus.
