The Offer
- Northwest Plus Credit Union is offering a $200 CD when new members complete the following requirements:
- Open a savings and a checking account
- Receive monthly direct deposits of at least $500 (must be maintained until CD matures in 12 months)
The Fine Print
- *This offer applies to new NW Plus CU members who join between October 1, 2026 and November 21, 2026 and open both a savings and a checking account with active monthly direct deposits of at least $500.
- A credit union–sponsored $200 12-month CD will be issued after membership and accounts are established
- . Accounts will be reviewed quarterly to confirm ongoing direct deposit activity. Qualifying direct deposits are those from an employer for payroll, state benefit payments, pension/retirement plans, or federal benefit payments. Person to Person third-party payments (Zelle, Paypal for example) do not qualify.
- Early closure of either account for any reason before the CD term ends will forfeit the CD and any accrued interest. Accounts deemed to be acting in bad faith may be closed and the CD forfeited.
- To be eligible, you must be new to NW Plus CU, meaning you have not been a NW Plus CU member for at least 12 consecutive months prior to joining and you must have been a member in good standing when any previous membership terminated.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.
Our Verdict
Maintaining a direct deposit for 12 months for a $200 bonus isn’t worth it for most people.
