Deal has ended, view more credit card bonuses by clicking here.

Update 9/10/20: Affiliate links are showing an end date of 9/14, but referrals still showing the end date of 9/21.

The Offer

No direct link, you need to use a referral link to get this offer

  • Signup for the Southwest Plus, Premier, or Priority credit card and get up to 65,000 Southwest points

Card Details

  • Apply by September 21st, 2020
  • Chase 5/24 rule does apply to this card
  • Annual fees are not waived the first year
  • The Premier personal and business cards earn a 6,000 points anniversary bonus; the Plus earns 3,000 points anniversary bonus; the Priority earns 7,500 anniversary bonus

Our Verdict

These cards offered a 75,000 point bonus earlier this year. But that was the highest bonus we’ve ever seen. The standard bonus is 40,000 points and we frequently see 60,000 points after $2,000 in spend. This is an extra 5,000 points than those 60,000 point offers but still less than we saw earlier in the year. I’ll add this to the best credit card bonus post but with a disclaimer that we saw that higher bonus fairly recently. Do not share your referrals in the comments here, instead share them in this linked page instead.

I think you have to use a referral that was generated before 9/14

What about indirectly, e.g. gift cards, or ways to spend points?

Is this date from the day your bonus posted or the day you closed your account?

*This product is available to you if you do not have a current Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.

Thanks!
Alan

It’s from the date your bonus posted (or was earned) — you shouldn’t have to close your previously held card/account, but may be worth calling Chase to confirm.

I was denied and I called to find out why and its because i have a premier card and can’t sign up for the priority because i already have one in the southwest card family.

FWIW on hitting SUB for next year

On my freedom when I applied last year are my application, statement and due dates. That you could use as a guide for this SUB

Opened freedom 9/20

Due date For freedom was 10/27

Oct Statement date 9/20-10/2 (13 days)
Nov Statement date 10/3-11/2
Dec Statement date 11/3-12/2

This means if it worked out exactly like this you would have 18 days to finish the sub from 12/3-12/20 and it would post in January statement.

I have SW Priority card, but IDK what to do what the points anymore, or whether I should even keep the card. can’t travel in these…. turbulent times.
what does one do with 65K points except cash them out for gift cards?

These points won’t expire. So keep them for future travel. And there are chances redeeming southwest points on Amazon comes back as well.. so, that would be another good option.

These are great times to travel! Flights are so cheap with points, especially on SW! Your 65k points go so much farther now!

Does anyone know how do anniversary miles work if you upgrade? I.e. if you switch from Plus to Priority, do you get 7500 miles? Do you get it on the anniversary of account opening or the anniversary of the upgrade?
