Data point: booked a trip that qualifies for $150 off $500. I received an email that I used the offer 2 days ago, today I can see $150 under savings, although no credit yet. I’ll probably cancel the trip for Delta eCredit and see if Amex takes the credit back.

Did you get the credit back and cancel for ecredit?

No love for NorCal. I remember when DL treated SJC like a focus city but they stopped trying after covid. Must be some kind of gentleman’s agreement with UA not to compete

….Or they could just lower their outrageous prices after getting taxpayer covid money

For those less airport-code savvy, a translation:

Spend $600 or more, get $120 back. Flights must be operated by Delta Air Lines, depart New York (JFK) or Boston (BOS) airport and arrive at Tel Aviv, Israel (TLV), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), or Dublin (DUB).

Spend $500 or more, get $150 back. Flights must be operated by Delta Air Lines, depart from Los Angeles (LAX) or Seattle (SEA) airport and arrive at Honolulu/Oahu (HNL), Maui (OGG), Kauai (LIH), or Hawai’i (KOA).

Got the same JFK/BOS offer, but mine was $600 with $150 back

The terms state:
“Changes made to the flight reservation after initial purchase may disqualify you from the offer. Cabin class or fare upgrades must be booked at the time of the initial purchase in order to qualify.”

Does Delta really notify Amex about upgrades after the fact even if the original card is not used? Also, I wonder if canceling for Delta credit (not back to the credit card) would disqualify one for this offer.

right how would they even know?

can’t remember what card or airline exactly, but they got my whole itinerary, i was a bit surprised.

I guess they need to get the whole itinerary for this offer to work. But, the question will Delta notify Amex of a cancellation. My idea is book SEA-HNL (for example) for $500+, trigger the offer, cancel for Delta eCredit and use that within one year for any flight I want.

Did you try it?

Yes. So far I only received the email that offer was triggered. No credit yet. I’ll probably cancel the flight for Delta credit in the next couple of days and see what happens. The terms of the offer don’t make me very optimistic that it will work as they state credit should post within 90 days of 5/31.

joremero Every card gets the full itinerary. Each bank just decides how and where they show it to you (if at all). CITI shows it on the statement. AMEX will show it on the statements page when you click the individual charge (shows name and itinerary).

satellite Jack JetBlue didn’t notify AMEX. I bought two one-way tickets from US arriving in S.America, got the two $80 off $200 offers on two cards which required that the flight originate in the US. A couple months later, the flight route was discontinued, so JetBlue offered me either a refund or an ability to reschedule to another flight. Since I wanted to keep the $80 discount that I got, I opted to reschedule, which I did much later for the reverse direction (S.America to US). No issues from JetBlue or AMEX.

Daniel

Maybe you should actually go visit Tel Aviv before you spew this “apartheid” garbage. Tel Aviv is probably one of the top 5 most tolerant cities in the world, same goes with Israel as a country.

Rick
Rick

Lol you can spin that narrative but everyone knows it’s completely false. You aren’t fooling anyone.

Daniel
Daniel

Answer the question, have you ever been to Tel Aviv or anywhere in Israel? Or do you just believe the propaganda you hear in the media? I suggest going and verifying for yourself

Rick
Rick

The media protects Israel. If you go for any reason other than religious, you have blood on your hands.

How would you know, have you ever been? As I’ve said before please go visit for yourself and stop drinking the Kool-Aid fed to you by the media.
