Our Verdict

Despite it saying it excludes FHR bookings, I wonder it works with the changes made to points earning structure on the Platinum card. If it does and if those bookings still earn hotel points/stay credits this has the potential to be huge, but I just can’t see that happening unfortunately.

In terms of this offer itself, it’s not terrible but keep in mind it only works on hotel bookings and not flights. In addition you need to spend $350 in a single purchase, not as bad as previous offers that required $600 in spend. Keep in mind it’s possible to get deep discounts by booking through  Hotels.com and get 20%+ off with ease, and up to ~35% with discounted gift cards. This discount is only 16.5%, offer does become a bit more interesting on Platinum as those purchases will earn 5x points as well.

excluding FHR makes it less much less usable for me, if it was including that I would test it out see if they give elite stay credit and pts as well =\

Had on gold, not Plat. Checked a booking I made on Booking.com earlier and the price on Amex was exactly $60 more than the price on Booking. Worth it to get the 6,000 MR? Not at this moment

For Travelers. I think Amex can do much better to compete with Capital One Venture and others

Saw this on my Platinum this morning. But rarely ever pay for hotel stay and if I do it’s so easy to get at least 10x or 10% back for a Hotels.com booking. With it excluding FHR also then not really worth much.
