The Offer
Check your Amex login to see if you were targeted for the following offer:
- Get a $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $50 in one or more transactions online at samsclub.com by 12/31/2018.
The Fine Print
- Only valid online or with Sam’s app. Not valid on purchases made in club, via the scan and go app or on phone orders.
- Excludes prescription and photo purchases made via Sam’s Club mobile app, Sam’s Club fuel and third party services.
Our Verdict
Seems to be highly targeted; I can’t seem to find it on any of mine. Don’t forget to go through a portal, current best rates are up to 5%.
There doesn’t seem to be any sort of gift card restriction in the fine print of this offer, so those purchases should work fine to trigger the offer (though it won’t work for portal cashback). Most $50 gift cards are priced under $50, so that’s kind of annoying. You can lock in the discount for Walmart or for Sam’s or even Walmart/Sam’s gas by purchasing a $50 Sam’s gift card.

Receive $10 off of your first SamsClub.com order of $100 or more between 11/25/18-11/30/18. Offer applies to SamsClub.com merchandise only. Applies pre-tax and cannot be used in combination with other offers or promo codes. https://www.samsclub.com/sams/cyber-week-savings/2450109.cp
Works for $27 off $100. $5 CB on $15 plus $10 CB on $50 from Amex. Add $50 more for $10 off $100 from SC. Then split tender $40 on Chase Freedom or Discover IT for another $2 CB.
Amazingly, this showed up on my platinum card, but still fairly useless for me like the other offers I’ve been getting because I live in Hawaii and don’t have a samsclub membership. I believe there’s an upcharge for non-members.
Maybe the % discount Chuck mentioned as being annoying will offset the non-member surcharge, and the $10 will still be net useful?
I may have to dig more into this one…. I have $5 off $15 and $10 off $50, so… $15 off $50 seems worth more effort.
It’s only 10% upcharge for non members, still a good deal for gift cards like Uber.
