The Fine Print
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Aspiration checking works on a pay what you want model, so you can choose anywhere between $0 and $20 per month.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule, so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.
Our Verdict
We’ve talked about the Aspiration account before, it does a lot of things well but doesn’t really excel in any particular category. Not the easiest bonus, and just $100, but some might find it worthwhile.

Venmo also worked for me for this bonus — sent $1000 via Venmo at the end of May, and received the bonus on July 31st.
Received bonus today. Used Venmo to send money to friend as the debit card transaction
No bonus as of today for P1 and P2. Actually used debit card for over $1,000 each. Has anyone received this bonus?
Has anyone received this bonus?
Due tomorrow, right? Not yet there for me
Still no bonus … might wait until end of the statement cycle to complain.
Nothing for me either… ugh I had a bad feeling about this one
I sent them a message this morning asking them to look into this. Will let you know what they say (if anything).
I think I’ve read other people saying that this offer never paid out for them ….
Received my bonus today, had to call the number on the back of the debit card yesterday to plead my case. She said that I had met the requirements for the bonus and that I would get it today, which I did. P2 phoned today and had the same conversation and was told that her bonus would now arrive tomorrow. Seems a long time ago setting up this account for the bonus, but worth it in the end!
I called in too and was told that it should post on 7/31, not likely before then. They seem pretty reasonable on the phone.
Legit DD?
Received mine on July 31st. I bought $1000 MO @ walmart for the spend. Also for the $700deposit I amade $100 initial and then $600 afterwards (not a single $700 deposit).
I wonder whether they might let me change my monthly fee. I set it at $1/month and if it can be changed to zero now I’d consider keeping the account longer than if it remains $1/month.
This alive again? The terms say between 4/7/2020 and 4/30/2020 now. Looks like you have to spend $1,000 to get the $100 and I don’t see anything about a direct deposit.
Nice find
Just wondering if sending someone a thousand dollars via PayPal will trigger the bonus?
Now they are offering a $50 referral bonus to both parties. Also, $25 to charity of choice to both parties. Account opening seemed pretty painless and glitch-free, which is not always the case. I have a referral link but will not post it until sure its ok to do so.

I referred a friend today and asked her to deposit 11$. I never got 100$ bonus when I opened my account but I didn’t close my account. I’ll update here how quick the bonus posts if it even does. Opening a bank account now seems so much smoother. Back when I did, I had to scan my social and driving license. Now, my friend was able to get through without having to upload anything which is fantastic.
Looks targeted but offered a 5% cash back on up to $1,000 in spend when using the Aspiration Digital Debit Card (up to April 15th). The digital debit card can be used in-store via Apple, Google, or Samsung Pay.

Allow up to Tuesday, May 5, 2020 for cash back rebate to post to your Spend & Save Account. This promotion is available to randomly selected customers and is non-transferable. Aspiration Partners, LLC and its subsidiaries reserve the right to modify or change the terms of this promotion at any time without prior notice. For more information on general cash back rewards
FYI: they do say account closures are permanent and you cannot reapply. Someone can go be a dp though 🙂
I didn’t receive the bonus last time as they said my DD wasn’t legit (which was true) so I didn’t fight for it. I still have the account and emailed them to close my account. They replied saying account closures are permanent including re-opening new account.
Such a bizarre rule…
What counts as a direct deposit?
“Your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government.”
If you can’t use above, good luck in getting the bonus (I failed last year, and I tried a lot of ‘other avenues’ for a DD…)
