The Offer
Direct link to offer | Direct deposit bonus
- Every time you refer someone to Bellco and they open a Bellco checking account you can both select a reward of your choice. Rewards include:
- $100 Amazon giftcard
- $100 Whole Foods gift card
- Other random items
- To be eligible for reward the referred party must meet the following requirements within 90 days of receiving the initial e-mail notification:
- Deposit $250 into the new checking account at time of account opening
- Attach a VISA debit card to the new checking account
- Not already be a tax owner, non-tax owner, or signor on any Bellco checking account
- You can also get an additional $100 by setting up direct deposit. You need to have two qualifying direct deposit transactions post and clear the account within 90 days of account opening.
The Fine Print
- A “qualifying direct deposit” is defined as a recurring direct deposit of a paycheck, pension, Social Security, or other regular monthly income electronically deposited by an employer or an outside agency into a Bellco checking account.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not. They also have a 2.25% rewards checking account. But there are better high interest savings accounts out there.
Our Verdict
Unfortunately it’s a hard pull so not worth considering. Feel free to share your referral information in the comments. They also offer a credit card with $150 bonus and 3% categories. Won’t be adding this to our bank promotions page as there are so many better options available.

Was referred by Casey and can confirm that Bellco no longer pulls credit to open a checking and/or savings account, based on my conversation with member services and experience opening an account.
Also happy to provide referrals. Please reach out to [email protected] if you’re interested. Thanks!

Success! I just redeemed my $100 Amazon GC.
I hope this and previous posts have been informative and helpful. Since Kenny told me that he successfully referred at least one other person besides me, I will offer referrals myself.
Some things I learned:
1. The email I received regarding the referral instructed me to come into a branch, but two people I talked to confirmed with their superior that a referral would be recognized for online application. When an account manager emailed me about the application, I informed her of the referral (thanks again Kenny).
2. Becoming a benefactor of the Bellco Foundation is straightforward and is the one restriction-less way to qualify for CU membership. I didn’t wait for any confirmation of its receipt, rather I completed my online application 5 days after mailing the Foundation paperwork, and in the first email I received from the account manager she recognized that I had donated. There is a minimum donation of $10, but as this is to earn one or more sign-up bonuses, I think it’s best not being too stingy.
3. I was told by two people that it was a soft pull. If I was told it was a hard pull, I would have tried to process a Colorado Rewards CC application using the same hard pull. But instead I will finish earning 60k Delta miles before tackling this card’s sign-up bonus. I wanted to become a member in order to get this card, but I waited to apply until I got a referral. I got the $100 GC today as well. Thanks again. Hopefully someone will use your referral as well.
I just now received notification of earning the reward for making two direct deposits! It must have been triggered by the external account authentication trial deposits from Ally.
It was not a cash reward as I thought the offer implied, rather it was another selection from $100 gift cards or merchandise supposedly worth $100. It was administered by the same company as the initial referral bonus, but it was a largely different selection. Thankfully, a $100 Amazon GC was an option; the only other $100 GC was for Nordstrom.
Hey Scott, are you still a member of Bellco? They are running a stacked $200 promotion right now with a referral ($100 for being referred, $100 for setting up DD) and I would love to be referred by you. Please let me know!
In additional to the referral bonus, Bellco offers referred customers $100 (cash) bonus for two “qualified” direct deposits (can’t find minimum amount specified) within 90 days. https://www.bellcoreferitforward.com/direct-deposit-reward
Any idea if they stack?
It is advertised as part of the “Refer/Pay it Forward” program, intended to be stacked.
Actually, what is unclear to me is whether someone who is NOT referred is able to qualify for this $100 bonus from DDs.
Thanks, Scott.
Regarding “Availability: In branch only, all branches in Colorado”: on the webpage for those who have been referred, there is a link to open an account online. https://www.bellcoreferitforward.com/referred
Nothing in the terms and conditions says that the account needs to be opened in a branch, rather it says “When opening the new account, the Referred Person must provide the name or email address of the referring Advocate.” Has anyone tried opening an account online and have not been able to get the referral to work? https://www.bellcoreferitforward.com/program-terms-and-conditions
If anyone is interested in doing this let me know and I’ll send you the referral link.
Yes finally, the first offer for a referral I’ve seen on the internet.
I’m a bit uncomfortable giving out my email here. I guess find and message me on Facebook; search the comment author name, and filter by Work “Bellco Referral.”
Will do. Thanks
I was not able to find you, maybe it has to do with your privacy settings or maybe it takes facebook awhile to update the search results. Anyway I guess all you really need is a name and emai ( @gmail.com username listed below) , name is at the top of my original post. Kenny4842 or email me and I’ll send you the referral though Bellco website.
Sorry about that, I suppose all I can test is if it shows up for me. Facebook privacy settings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sending you an email soon. And I’ve removed “Bellco Referral” work from my profile.
