  • Account must be open when bonus is credited. Bonus will be credited to the account by 11/30/17.
  • Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT.
  • Offer may be modified/withdrawn without notice.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

There are no fees to with this account.

Discover does not have any minimum balance requirement, and you can withdraw all the funds after opening the account and fulfilling the $15,000/$20,000 deposit requirement. You do obviously need to keep the account open until the bonus posts.

Our Verdict

The fine print states: “Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers”, despite that the bonus is working for people who have done the regular & AAA bonuses before. This looks like a pretty easy $600 from Discover. I’ll be adding it to our list of the best savings accounts.

Big thanks to readers, Rene & Yet Another Redditor who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

  1. Ryan says:

If and when the promo works, it couldn’t hurt to move $15k from my other AAA Discover savings account (deposit made for bonus purposes) to this one and roll the dice.

  2. Mimi says:

before I opened my first Discover savings acct, I talked to an agent to clarify whether I have to “park” $20K and for how long I should, if that is required. I was told I do NOT have to park the full $20K, they just require that $20K be posted to my account at a certain point and then I can take out amounts as I want to while keeping a small amount to keep it open until I get my bonus. I will then get my $200 bonus. I also clarified if it’s one offer per household and was told NO, it is one offer per person in a household as long as it is their first savings account. Great offer!

  3. Klad says:

Hope this one works out similar to $100 AAA Savings bonus back in June which had the same language “Offer not available for existing Savings customer”.. worth a try since there is no additional Chex Inquiry. Time to arrange $20K now 🙂

  4. JT says:

Anyone having extreme problems with their Discover deposit accounts? Originally found out when trying to open the AAA 200 bonus account, but then realized it’s not related to opening a specific account. I am unable to open any accounts w/ Discover. Called in Discover, and they were unable to do it. They are unable to update even the most basic of information such as citizenship. I currently have no citizenship on file. Discover said there was nothing they could do and they were forwarding it to a special team to look into it. It’s been a week. Call again?

  5. Rene says:

FWIW, I don’t deserve credit for this. Yet Another Redditor found it.

  6. Rene says:

I have an open “unbranded” Discover Savings account and the code didn’t work for me. I did not proceed with opening the AAII savings Account since the code was rejected.

Also, not that anybody opens this for the APY, but as Yet Another Redditor pointed out in his original comment: the AAII Savings has a slightly better APY of 1.20%.

  7. larry says:

Are these bonus promo churn-ablel? tia

  8. Ryan says:

The problem appears to be the offer code itself- I found a way to join AAII for $1 for 30 days, put that in the membership ID box, per the instructions of Discover and when I called them and told them it’s still not working, rep said she saw no AAII promo code.

I honestly think this promo just doesn’t exist.

    • Ryan says:

Update- got an incredibly helpful Discover rep (1-800-388-1302) who said even though the promo isn’t working online, Discover will honor it. He added notes to that effect and was unequivocal that it will be credited to my account (and my wife’s!).

      Another easy $400. Thanks, DofC.

      • Jim says:

Thanks, to confirm, you and your wife both applied online without promo, but called afterwards to manually tack it on?

Was the AAII membership ID necessary? Seems many folks did not put anything in for the AAA box.

        • Ryan says:

Indeed- the promo wasn’t working for me or the Discover office people. They agreed to do it. If you ask for “Rob” (it seems like a small office) he will know what to do.

I signed up for AAII just in case. If you scroll up and down this page enough, you get the 30 days for $1 offer-

I have a credit card I have to cancel soon so I’ll simply change the credit card to the card I’m going to cancel before the 30 days is up and avoid any other AAII charges.

          • Jim says:

            Great information, thanks.

Looks like the $1 AAII trial offer pops up as soon as I move the mouse on the regular Join Now page.

Will give this offer a few days before proceeding, hopefully with some more DPs. Still waiting for my regular savings bonus to post proceeding with AAII and AAA

  9. Mike says:

As soon as the offer code “works” online I’ll stick my neck out and apply. Still awaiting the DISC AAA bonus from an account opened a few weeks ago. Worst case scenario is that I get neither that bonus or this one and move on. I personally think the disqualifying language from having a prior account for this offer refers only to AAII. So I don’t mind being the data point that hopefully proves it (once that promo code works).

    • eclipsor says:

I think it’s working now? “AAIIBONUS – Your offer code has been accepted.”

Or is everyone having a different issue?

      • Jim says:

Thanks for sharing this, definitely fixed since a few hours ago. Only issue being the same language about previous savings customers…

Upon entering my information and the promo code:

    • Mike says:

Received the bonus today (10/25), Happy not only for the $200 but that I can provide a data point as follows:

1)I’ve had both the regular DISC Savings account as well as the DISC AAA Savings within the past 2 years and received a bonus on each. As I assumed, the disqualifying language for being a prior accountholder may refer only to a DISC AAII account.

      2) I did NOT fund through transfer from one DISC account to another (ie $20K was brought in from an external source).

  10. eclipsor says:

anyone know if it has to be one 15k+ deposit? or can I do like 2 7.5k deposits?

    • Mimi says:

it is cumulative according to the rep I spoke with, $15K total just has to post at least one time as total deposit to your account and that’s good enough to earn the bonus. two $7.5K deposits will work.

  11. kirk says:

this line ~ What to know: Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers.

does it mean ‘any’ discover savings or just the ‘regular’ savings? coz if it’s just the regular savings then in theory one can open 3 savings in a particular order and receive all 3 bonuses (would only apply to people who never had any discover savings. eliminates most of us here but perhaps can be tried for your SO or family member). here’s the app order i was thinking:
    1 – open AAII savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers. = CHECK!
    2 – open AAA savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior AAA savings customers. = CHECK!
3 – open regular Discover savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers = CHECK! coz you ONLY have AAII and AAA and not regular Savings!

just a theory and everything is murky right now. heck i haven’t even gotten my regular and AAA bonuses yet. and this AAII code isn’t working for anyone but seems to work if you call ‘Rob’ per Ryan’s post. 😀

  12. Brandon says:

I’ll give this a try even though I applied for the other two already. Worth a shot. Interestingly, this product appears different than the regular and AAA accounts. This one has a 1.20% rate vs. 1.15% for the other two. I wonder if that might be favorable.

    • Nick says:

Please do and share your experiences, as a regular and AAA account holder 🙂

It doesn’t look like the savings account incur a Chex inquiry, as I just opened mine a week ago and happened to request my Chex a few days ago.

  13. CtownBin says:

I have never done either the regular Discover or the AAA savings bonuses. I know they each have increased bonuses right now. Is the best course of action to just do both of those ones, and not this AAII one?
In general, what would be the advantage of doing this deal over either/both of the other 2? And- if it is true as DOC indicated that one would NOT be eligible for this bonus if one has already done the regular Discover savings- then why would anyone ever sign up for this one? If one has never done the regular savings or the AAA one, then they’d just do those, since the terms are seemingly identical. And if one HAS done those, they’re not eligible for this one. So why is there even a post on this? Just want to make sure I’m not missing something.

    • Brandon says:

Higher savings rate if keeping the account. 1.20% is pretty good.

    • kirk says:

coz sometimes the terms are not enforced. people would fulfill the requirements, ‘silently’ – adhering to ‘do no call the bank’ rule. then one day, the bonus would magically appear! if it doesn’t, to these ‘be the DP you want to see’ people it’s no big deal and move on. also, DoC posts ANY and ALL bank bonuses! so yeah, that’s why it’s here. he then offers his thoughts at the end of his post. it’s up to us what we want to do with it but the best thing about this site is… people share their DPs. and that’s how we, somehow, make ‘sound decision/s’. 🙂

but to answer your question.. yes, app for a either a regular savings first then AAA (lotsa DPs) -or- AAII first then AAA (no DPs but like you said terms are idential). *make sure AAA is your SECOND app not the first as there are DPs that denied regular savings bonus if you’ve had AAA prior.

      as always, YMMV! goodluck!

      • SamSimon says:

“*make sure AAA is your SECOND app not the first as there are DPs that denied regular savings bonus if you’ve had AAA prior.”

Do you suggest to open Regular, then AAA, then AAII ? But you not sure?

        The guy above wrote this:
        “1 – open AAII savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers. = CHECK!
        2 – open AAA savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior AAA savings customers. = CHECK!
3 – open regular Discover savings
~ Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers = CHECK! coz you ONLY have AAII and AAA and not regular Savings! “

        • kirk says:

no one is sure. that’s why it’s just a theory on my part (coz there are no DPs with AAII at all). *i’m the guy who wrote both of your quotes.

one can try my theory (AAII -> AAA -> Regular) and see what happens. that’s all there is to it. Ryan seems to think it’s reasonable. I thought so too! 😀

          but as always, ymmv!

right now it’s a waiting DP game. :p

          • SamSimon says:

            oh, hey;)
“*make sure AAA is your SECOND app not the first as there are DPs that denied regular savings bonus if you’ve had AAA prior.”

If (AAII -> AAA -> Regular) then based on data points that you collected – people won’t get bonus because they will have AAA prior Regular?

          • kirk says:

SS, the concensus when this AAII was first mentioned in a post was you can only get 2 out of 3 discover savings bonuses because of the terms. thus i came up with that theory to go for 3 of 3. i devised it in a way that people would still get 2 of 3 bonuses with maybe a chance of getting a third one. hence, AAA as the 2nd app. *btw that quote was to answer a question. had nothing to do with my theory.

recently a couple of people went through CSR. see Ryan and TomT posts. this is promising and actually applies to most people here as most of us have app for regular and AAA already. so perhaps one can app in this order now ~ Regular, AAA then AAII with a better chance of going 3 of 3.

my theory is just that …a theory.

  14. TomT says:

Doc, I thought the inconsistency of the wording between the AAA and AAII bonuses was odd (“Apply for your first AAA Online Savings Account from Discover Bank by 10/31/17. Enter Offer Code AAABONUS … Offer not valid for existing or prior AAA savings customers” vs. “Apply for your first AAII Savings Account from Discover Bank (OSA) by 10/31/17. Enter invitation Code: AAIIBONUS … Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers.”). Therefore, I called them to see what they truly intended on the bonuses. I just confirmed with a Discover banking rep that you ARE eligible for the $200 AAII bonus even if you have had or currently have a regular Discover savings account and/or the AAA online savings account. I had a Discover savings account a couple of years ago that I opened when the bonus was a paltry $50. It is now closed, but I opened my AAA account yesterday with that promotion. Knowing all of this, they said I still qualified for the AAII bonus as well. I became an AAII member for a month for $1 to avoid any issues with that validation. The are notating this on my account so that I will not have to prove it later. Please let your other readers know they can double dip and get $400 per person.

  15. SamSimon says:

Please who are not a member of AAII and applied and got bonus, let us know. I don’t want to become member of AAII if not needed. Thanks!

    • Brandon says:

That’s my situation. I’m neither AAA or AAII. The accounts show up in my Discover portal each with their unique label and no one ever asked for membership detail even during security calls. Funded with new funds already so we’ll see. I’m awaiting all three $200 bonuses so $600 per person. Same with wife! If everything works this could be s huge offer.

      • henry says:

what is the order you created those three accounts?
are you transferring in new fund or just from one discover account to another?

  16. Jerry says:

I am new to discover so potentially $600!

    plan to do below sequences:
open regular saving, AAA, then AAII (can this be done in same day, or need to spread out??)

transfer 15k from external to regular saving, wait 2 days
transfer 15 from regular saving to AAA, wait 2 days
transfer 15 from AAA saving to AAII, wait 2 days

does this sound right? do we have to always transfer funds from external? I saw both discussed above. if always need transfer from external, then may need more turnover time.

    • Waingro says:

I would do it a few days apart. I did two on the same day, then the fraud dept. locked them down a few days later. Had to call them up to verify identity and unlock, which was a hassle.

      • Etrader83 says:

I opened the AAA today and was planning on opening AAII as well. Since, tomorrow is the last day for AAII, if I’m going to get flagged then I might as well open AAII today, Correct?

Will you share some details on unlocking aspect?

    • TomT says:

You need to transfer $20,000 to get $200, not $15,000.

  17. MontyFC says:

Did anyone try with a previous Discover Savings or Discover AAA Savings accounts?

    • Waingro says:

Really surprised there are no data points by now. I need to fund my AAA first and then do this before I report back.

      • MoreSun says:

Almost no one has gotten Discover bonuses in about a month. There was 1 DP here & on Reddit, not the AAII offer, but that’s it for any Discover bonuses posting.

  18. R says:

Can it be related to end of quarter?

  19. Superchurn says:

Giving the IIAA a try today…here’s hopign

    • Cole says:

interested in hearing how it works out for you… terms say “What to know: Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers” makes me nervous about getting the bonus.

    • Roberto says:

Decided to give it a go as well. Existing Discover Savings customer. Will report back. Figured not much to lose, even the APY was slightly better at 1.25%!

  20. Cole says:

the AAA bonus is finally posting for people.. be interested if this one is for people who have had other accounts before..

  21. Max says:

Did anyone get the bonus after AAA bonus posted?

  22. henry says:

checked mine, show 10/23 $200. (today is 10/21, 10/23 is next Monday). open sequence: regular saving->aaa saving.

  23. John says:

So has anyone gotten the AAII bonus without being a member?

    • Jey says:

yes, just got the bonus, two weeks after opening the account. (already had a regular discover savings account)

      • Klad says:

Wow.. thanks for the DP.. so although the offer says not eligible for existing Savings accounts but you still got the bonus?

      • NN says:

Is that AAII or AAA ?

      • MoreSun says:

Sounds like the AAA bonus. No one else has reported receiving the AAII bonus…

        • Alex says:

Just received the AAII bonus. Have had a discover savings for 2 years, also opened the AAA bonus last month and received that as well. Easiest $400!!

          • MoreSun says:

          • Dave says:

if you don’t mind me asking, when you applied for the AAII account, did you pre-fill the form by logging into your Discover account or did you enter all your details manually?

          • Alex says:

Ya I prefilled by logging into my existing Discover Account.

I also transfered the same 20k between all the accounts, even transferred them the next day after it posted.

Safe to say none of the terms are being enforced. Just transfer 20k between accounts Savings—AAA–AAII and you should get all 3

          • Dave says:

Thanks! Opened it today and transferred the 20k from my AAA account. Hope to see the bonus post in a couple of weeks!

  24. NBG says:

Is the site down?. Went all the way to disclosures and it timed out on verification and said to try again.

  25. kirk says:

opened the AAII savings today (expires 10/31). going for a trifecta! 😀 we’ll see what happens.

*i did not enter any membership id/number.

  26. SamSimon says:

bonus just posted $200 for AAII – I’m not a member of AAII.
Got bonus for AAA and Savings accounts a week ago.
Transferred money from AAA to AAII a week ago and kept money there the whole time. Going to keep money there for 1.25% APY
    Thanks Doc.

    • tribesman55 says:

What date did you open your AAII account on?

    • Chap says:

Sam, can you confirm that you did not transfer the 20k into the AAII account from an external account? You went AAA directly (keeping it internally to discover) to the AAII and received the bonus?

      • SamSimon says:

“Transferred money from AAA to AAII a week ago and kept money there the whole time. “

        • Diomaiuti says:

I opened all three accounts at the last minute (10/29, 10/31) and only have one wodge of 20K to spread around. Since ACH transfers can take a week or more to complete, I’ll be trying this Discover to Discover transfer option. I’m still worried time may run out before I can get the money through all 3 accounts. What’s a typical Disco-Disco turnaround time in anybody’s experience?

  27. MoreSun says:

Applied and was told to call Discover at end of app. I’m being put through ID verification, but they say it should only take 2-3 business days. Had to upload personal IDs to their online system (which beats the pants off Barclaycard’s send all your sensitive docs to this po box id verification process!). The hilarious part is I currently have a Savings Account with them and previously closed a AAA savings account…

    • HarryTheFirstHarry says:

Dang, a family member got the same too for opening a AAA account when already having a regular Discover savings. Please provide DP if you are able to get your account unlocked. I don’t even want to call in if it all comes to nothing.

      • HarryTheFirstHarry says:

I should add, the reason I have decided to not call at this time and just let it pass is that I do not want the regular Discover that is open and accessible to also be frozen in full or the funds frozen for the 15 day period which would play havoc with the planned transfers to other accounts.
So to confirm the DP with your your regular Disc Savings is open and accessible during the time all of this ID verification is ongoing for the AAI account right ?

        • MoreSun says:

I can access the account online but I can’t confirm about transferring. It doesn’t look like it’s frozen or have any notices on it. I’ll report back if they open my AAII. Submitted my docs & should know by Thurs. If I hadn’t called they would not have opened the account imho. Maybe they would have sent a letter asking for the docs? I wanted to make sure the account is opened by the 10/31 deadline for the promo so that’s why I didn’t wait.

          • Grandpa says:

I’m in the exact same situation as you.

I already have regular Discover savings and AAA savings open. Today I just applied for the AAII savings.. was told to call in.. and then was told to upload my driver’s license. Please come back and update us if you can.

I’m also hoping that our promo code for AAII gets properly accepted, because we had to take this extra step.. hope that the promo code didn’t get ‘lost in the system,’ otherwise all of this would just be a complete waste of time.

Also for me the AAII I just applied for isn’t showing up (yet) when I log into Discover. Thanks

          • MoreSun says:

@Grandpa my other 2 family members had to do upload their DLs as well. (I’m the only one who had to upload ssn card and dl though. no idea whats up with that.)

          • HarryTheFirstHandle says:

Any update? Sorry for the persistence and thanks in advance. I am on my toes too trying to meet the 31 Oct deadline for opening. Because family members are not so conversant in all of this and may not be able to explain everything if I let them call in, and also to not freeze the already open account with funds in it which are due to be moved into another open account, I am just waiting for some good DP on this one. Of course every ones situation is different and the same may not apply to everyone.
I think we get into this situation when they see more than a few accounts opening with the same IP address and/or postal address which is the case for me (6 from the family in all).

          • MoreSun says:

@HarryTheFirstHandle No worries about the persistence!

A fam member applied 10/26 and was put into ID review. They had scheduled a transfer from Discover to their hub bank on 10/25. Today their active Discover account shows the money as having left 10/26 (it was still there when they checked yesterday, maybe Discover is just slow to update) and the money is due to arrive at the hub account Mon. Idk if they slipped through because the transfer was already in process or if the id review has nothing to do with active accounts.

FWIW I called Discover today to see if I could hasten this id thing along a bit (they said I should hear back in 2-3 business days, today is day #2) but they said they didn’t have an update for me at this time but I should hear something by the end of Mon and if I didn’t to call back end of business Mon or Tues. So, ID review takes the solid 3 business days to complete.

    • MoreSun says:

And Discover didn’t like my SSN card because it was a black and white copy. Another 2-3 days now while the updated one processes through the system. They never bothered to mention the SSN card needs to be color! (yeah, yeah, I should have known, but I just never got around to scanning in a color copy before!)

  28. eclipsor says:

DP: Have been transferring 5k back and forth from Ally and my CU, transferring 5k in and taking it back out right away. I’ve done 15k total so far and just got the $150 bonus, if I do another 5k as originally planned can i still get a $50 bonus to make it $200?

  29. DP:
    9/15 Discover AAII account opened
9/15 Transferred 20K from 3 year old Discover Savings
    10/25 Got $200 bonus

Possible to get Regular, AAA, AAII bonuses of $200 each for $20000 deposit (or cumulative deposit) being transferred between accounts .

    Offer terms

“Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers.”

    not being enforced

    • Ian says:

Why do you say ““Offer not valid for existing or prior Discover savings customers.” not being enforced”?!? You seem to suggest that if i open a new second Discover Saving with AAA bonus, (I got the discover savings AAA bonus last year) by Oct.31,2017, then I’m ok to get the bonus. Are you sure?

  30. tribesman55 says:

Wish I had opened this back in Sept or early Oct, wonder when the next round of bonuses will post?

  31. Fiby says:

I got all three bonuses! Vanilla, AAA, AAII

  32. Joshua H. says:

    09/21 open account
    09/25 $20,001 open deposit post
    09/26 withdraw $20,000
    10/25 $200 bonus posted

  33. tribeman55 says:

Is there any timeframe people have noticed for the bonuses from all 3 savings accounts to post? Seems to be about 4-5 weeks?

  34. Heather says:

Can anyone share how many days it took for funds to transfer from AAA to AAII?

    • Jim says:

Internal transfers have been instant for me, between regular/AAA/AAII savings.

The website is a not behaving properly the past few days and I haven’t been able to schedule a future transfer, but for the current date, it works and is instantaneous

    • jz says:

It should be instant. That’s what I did today.

  35. Tom says:

Anybody have any experience with opening this account AFTER having frozen your credit reporting accounts (Experian etc)?

I have the codes to “unfreeze” all three but it would be nice to know which agency Discover uses, so I just need to unfreeze one of them.

  36. John says:

My app went pending and I needed to upload my DL yesterday. What happen if it’s opened after Oct 31? Can I argue with them about the application date if the bonus does not post?

    • Ted says:

I’m in the same boat… applied yesterday, uploaded DL, they told me “2 – 3 business days” and weekend coming up. Now sure if it will get done before 31st.. or whether or not the promo code will even get properly applied :/

      • MoreSun says:

Oh man… thinking this 2-3 day review is gonna be longer considering how many of us are reporting being put into this.. hope not!

    • MoreSun says:

It says “apply by” so as long as the computer does everything properly we should be good. If there’s a screw up and we have to get a person involved most of us don’t technically qualify since we’ve had a “discover bonus” before.

    • Mimi says:

I registered for AAII on the 25th and got the message. The rep told me to upload front n back of my DL and wait for 2 to 3 biz days for approval. When I logged in yesterday the AAII acct was there so I linked it immediately to my bank for ACH push. I’m glad they approved my application soon after I uploaded my DL for verification.

DH tried it yesterday and was instantly approved w/o fraud alerts or ID upload.

      • Ted says:

Shit! Are we supposed to scan both the front AND the back? The CS just told me driver’s license, so I only sent the front :/ 2 days ago

        • Mimi says:

Have you checked if your account is opened? If it’s not there, here’s what you can do:
          1. go to Discoverbankdotcom website (do NOT log in to your account)
          2. Under Help Center (left side of orange Open an Account button) choose Secure Document Upload. On the next screen, under Document type choose Identity Verification and fill in the other boxes. Upload the back side of your DL and put under description that you’re adding it to the previous document you uploaded. If your load is successful, you will receive an email from them instantly. If you don’t get the email, try to upload again or you can call and ask rep if they received your document.

          Good luck!

        • MoreSun says:

I was told front and back for DL. They are sticklers at least for the social security card (which I also had to upload). I uploaded a black and white copy and I got a call from Discover saying they needed color copy and it would be another 2-3 business days after uploading. Didn’t matter that I said the rep said nothing about it being color, that’s their requirement.

          • Ted says:

I got mine approved in 24 hours with the front of driver’s license! Right before the deadline. woohoo!

        • MoreSun says:

Lucky! I hope the next person to review my docs is whoever did yours!

  37. larry says:

If I open AAA savings account and fund it, do I have to keep the funds in there until the bonus posts or can I move the funds again to AAII to establish funds for that bonus? tia

    • NN says:

no need to keep the fund there, I withdrew right after it became available (which was way back in September), bonus post last week (AAA)

  38. startrekbonus says:

Darn! After completing the app I just realized that I forgot to enter the promo code! And I’m afraid to call lest they find out I already received a bonus from the vanilla savings account. Guess I’m out of luck!

    • Sam says:

Is it your third (regular and AAA already done) account? If so, calling won’t make it any worst than not having entered the code. That’s my opinion.

      • Sam says:

Worst = worse. Man, I hate it when I make typos I can’t edit!

      • startrekbonus says:

Would have been my third if not for my carelessness. Decided to send a secure message instead. They replied that my account was notated with the promotion but that the bonus is not guaranteed. I’m going to transfer the funds anyways, make a withdrawal a few days after it posts, and hope for the best.

  39. william says:

i just applied for this offer, today. 10/29/2017 rep says no longer valid. something about they are revamping this promo. won’t be available until 12/01/2017. problem i have to is it keeps all the info i entered. and doest seem appropriate if this no longer a valid promo

  40. Kikku says:

I applied all the three applications same time and all went to document verification on 10/27. Now only one is processed and rest two are cancelled. Telephone rep advised me to re-apply and I got the application confirmation numbers today.
Fingers crossed whether these two will be processed or one will get cancelled again.
Any one in this situation applied more than one application and processed one account number provided and rest are cancelled.
Is it something only one application can be processed by discover?

    • borntobehermit says:

I have just read your message and I wish that I have read it earlier. This morning I applied to all 3 accounts. And they all went pending (2-3 biz days). At this point there was no time anyway, so it is either going thru, or they will cancel a few or all. Probably not harm in trying.

    • yu says:

      Would yo share your result?

  41. David Michigan says:

I applied today for Discover AAI and got approved right away.
Already got the Discover savings regular bonus
Hoping my bonus for Discover AAA will post soon

  42. pjm says:

can children apply for this? I can stack my two kids on top of this and my wife, just have to get a move on to keep moving money around in time

  43. xeal says:

I just stumbled upon this today and hoping to open all three before the deadline tomorrow at 10/31.

10/30/17 AM: Applied for AAII in the morning and was told to call in. Submitted driver’s license via the secure upload and was told to wait 2-3 business days.

10/30/17 PM: Applied for the regular vanilla Discover Savings promo in the afternoon under different IP address. Received the 888 hotline again to call in.

I’ll wait until tomorrow to try the AAA application but if I already submitted my driver’s license for the first application do I have to do it again for the second one?

Any DP on what happens when you get the identity verification twice on two separate pending applications?

    • yu says:

Did you call the 800 and get your regular saving account approved?

      • xeal says:

I called yesterday and again today. Was told it’s currently being reviewed and it should take 3 business days. Currently 0/3 accounts have been approved and all are undergoing identity verification.

        • yu says:

Thanks for the sharing. I was also asked to submit the copy of DL. Were you just asked for call 888umber for the 2nd application? It’s different from you first application case, right? As the first one only asks for DL information.

  44. Kingdeals says:

Can we transfer money from Discover Checking into this newly opened savings account. as far as it looks it does not say new money??

    • Curmudgeon says:

I wouldn’t do that. To be safe, transfer the money to an outside bank then transfer it back in. You might get lucky if you transfer internally, or you might be out $200.

  45. Curmudgeon says:

Applied for both the AAA and AAII accounts today. Funded the AAA with a $20k pull from a bank account, left the other one to be funded later. Both look to be approved instantly with no further action on my part.

Looks like I slid under the wire on this one!

  46. Calvin says:

    Quick question, thanks in advance.

For example, I already have regular saving, and now I am opening AAA and AAII. If I transfer 20K between those three saving accounts, does it count as qualified deposit?

  47. KMS says:

Has anyone had issues with the please call us at 888# to complete your app?

I opened 3 accounts today on same name / SS# and all 3 asked for call in.

Only called after first account was opened and rep helped me complete and got online account access, then opened 2 more and they also asked for call in.

Have not called yet…don’t want to mess up the 1st account that seems to be open and working, but wondering if others hit the 888 issue today

    • Craig says:

I applied for first regular savings which was approved online and no need to call in.

Then applied for AAA savings and then AAII savings both of which asked to callin. And both are under review if they will approve and start or not.

Still no update on the other two accounts.

      • KMS says:

So I think we need to do something to get them open. Question is it worth the risk to the 1st open functioning account ?

  48. MoreSun says:

They’re really backlogged right now. I sent in my final id verification doc sunday and called today to check, I was on the phone with them for half an hour but they finally opened my account. (And I was just trying to open the AAII account, not multiple accounts.) At the very end the rep was apologizing for it taking so long and said “we’ve had a promo for the last 3 months that ended on the 31st but for some reason everybody waited until the 31st to apply so we’re really busy right now”. Lol.

  49. Frito Pendejo says:

I got a fraud lockout on my discover account. Not suprising considering moving $20k between accounts so fast. When I called to clear it up the agent wholeheartedly congratulated me on taking advantage of all their offers :-p. Got checking, savings, AAA savings, and this one AAII

  50. Stan says:

Is there a way to transfer funds between different Discover savings accounts? I’m only seeing an option to transfer funds from an external account. Thanks!

  51. PJ says:

Do the transfers from Discover to another bank really take as long as they say? I initiated one today from my AAA account and it said it wont reach until the 16th, but I need it to fund my AAII account. I transferred from my AAA to my AAII to see if that would trigger but I’m hoping the money gets to my account on Monday so I can initiate a transfer back to the AAII.

    • In my experience, yes, it does take as long as they say – the funds are there, but they are not made ‘available’ until the date they provide.

From what I’ve seen, newly added external accounts take significantly longer (5-7 days) than accounts that you’ve previously used for transfers (2-3 days).

    • Mimi says:

IME when I initiated transfer from Discover to my bank, it took several days for transfer to be completed so for my next applications, I made sure to choose ACH transfer from my bank to fund the account. The transfer was completed the next day after I initiated from my bank.

We’re just waiting now for the AAII bonuses. Hopefully, it’ll be there on or before the 15th.

  52. Frito Pendejo says:

Hmm been 13 days since the 20k deposit and no bonus yet. Previous bonuses took a week to post.

  53. NN says:

got the bonus today 11/18/17, 200$
signed up last month before the deadline.
Deposit 10k, withdrew and the deposit 10k again. So definitely cumulative deposits work.

    Thanks DoC 🙂

  54. kirk says:

yep, $200 bonus showed up today! *postdated 11.20.17
got the trifecta. $600 total. yey! thanks DoC and to all DP contributors!

    opened it on 10.25.17. i did 4 x 5k ach in/out.

*too bad this is not churnable. hopefully other ‘flavor’ of discover savings pops up! 😀

  55. Matt K says:

Awesome, got it today too for my wife and my account! Opened both 10/26. Posted today 11/20. Loved these Discover saving bonuses.

  56. John says:

My app went pending and never got opened even though I uploaded my DL. Do I need to call to cancel the app now? I don’t want to be ineligible in the future.

  57. Michael says:

Today just happens to be my birthday!!! Thank you Discover for $600! All 3 posted for me today too!!

    • RM says:

Same question as for the other DPs below. In what order did you open the accounts? I am wondering if wife and I did not get the regular savings bonus because we opened the AAA and AAII accounts first, if only by a few minutes.

      • JuicyJosh says:

I opened in this order Savings > AAA > AAII. 11k went into reg savings then 10k transfered each night after staying for one night. 10k AAA > 10k AAII > 10k reg savings > 10k AAA > 10k AAII, then pulled out from AAII. Bonus posted for AAA and AAII. Wife opened 2 accts reg and AAA. No bonus for her yet. I’m holding out hope there will be another bonus posting period.

  58. Sluce says:

All posted today for my SO and I with transaction dates of 11/20. I already had one account but got 5 others between my SO and I. Woohoo.

    • RM says:

$1200 total for me and the wife across all 3 x 2! Thanks Doc!

AAII Bonus posted for me and SO. Nice $1200 haul so far.
