This account has no monthly fees as long as you enroll in eStatements

Early Account Termination Fee

$30 if closed within 90 days.

Our Verdict

Looks like any ACH credit will work rather than it having to be payroll or government benefits. Considering it’s a soft pull, if you live in the area this is well worth doing as it’s easy to meet bonus requirements and keep the account fee free. As always please share your experiences & data points in the comments below. I’ll be adding this to the best bank bonuses.

Big thanks to reader, Joshua who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

Don’t see any mention of savings just checking. Is it both?

Might want to add in-branch only? Maybe it’s implied with the list of locations. I live in the KC area (Kansas) and I don’t see a way to apply online. Trying to figure out if it’s worth going to the OP or Leawood branches…

I’m in KC too! I’d spend an hour of my life for $200. Let me know which location you go to and if it works!

When you used my picture, you should inform me. I scanned it. I post in the reply, but I do not agree that you use my figure in your post. At least, you should say who offered this figure in your post. I made some mark in my figure. The “1” before “Offer” is light.

Did this in-branch.

Chexsystems: yes for all new accounts (I’ve opened 8 in the past year incl. 2 in the last 30 days, so they’re not sensitive). $30 early account closure fee if account is closed within 90 days. $10 dormant account fee if account has no activity for 182 days and the balance is $499.99 or less. No minimum daily balance. No monthly fee.

I opted in to paperless statements at account opening to dodge the $3 paper statement fee.

0% interest rate.

“The Convenience Checking account consists of two sub-accounts, a Checking Account and a Money Market Account.”

I too did one in branch. Quite painless. Mickey, where do you see this Money Market Account? Do you need to open one explicitly on top of the Convenience Checking? Just curious since i am only seeing one on my account.

A lot of banks have started to do this invisible savings subaccount thing, because balances in savings accounts are more valuable toward the bank’s reserve requirements. You don’t benefit from the extra account in any way, the bank moves your money to it, and instantly moves it back to checking when there’s a debit against checking, and on the 6th transfer in a month they have to move the full balance so you always retain access to all your funds without going over the 6 transaction-in-savings-account limit. And if you do a balance inquiry, the bank shows you the sum of the two subaccounts. For the accountholder, you should never be able to tell the account is split into subaccounts. It always acts as if the full amount is in checking.

painless sign up. Confirm no db/cc funding. They will run db/cc as cash advance per the rep when asked.

The reps almost always say that. Sometimes they are just misinformed.

Has anyone tried opening an account by phone? At the promotion link it says: “Stop by or call us at 888-827-5564 to find out how we can help make your life easier and banking more convenient.”

I’d like to know too — anyone open by phone? I’ll open in a week or so.

I just tried to open one via phone and the CSR said that I needed to go into a branch to open. Guess I’ll head into a branch later today.

Soft pull — does this mean I don’t need to unfreeze my accounts at credit reporting bureaus?

Anyone know which if any bureaus this bank uses?

I can unfreeze two of the three accounts for free, but TU costs me $10 where I live.

Can confirm that they pull Chex

Opened this account in early September — no bonus yet.
It might post late today or tomorrow since the terms say
“Bonus will be paid by 11/8/18”
Any other DP out there for others who opened account a few months ago?

Opened this today in a Denver branch. Simple. Not chex sensitive.

*don’t zero out account before 90 days*
I did this in September and got the bonus right on time. I left $1.50 to be safe because of the 90 day termination fee, even though it never said anything about a minimum balance needed.
I pulled $1.50 out of my account on 1/10/19, logged onto my account today, and noticed that it didn’t exist/was automatically closed when I brought the balance to 0. Just a heads up.
