Checking Promotion Requirements: Use the promo code referenced above when opening a new Connect Checking account with money not currently on deposit at Hancock Whitney Bank by the offer expiration date of 6/30/2021. The promo code is required at account opening. The following criteria must be met by 8/31/2021: Set up and receive a qualifying monthly direct deposit of at least $250 per deposit. A qualifying direct deposit includes a salary, pension, social security or other recurring, monthly income amount of $250 or more, electronically deposited by your employer or outside agency. Transfers from one account to another or deposits made at a financial center or ATM do not qualify. A qualifying direct deposit is a recurring electronic deposit of at least $250 of your paycheck, pension, or government benefit (such as Social Security) electronically deposited by your employer, the government, or outside agency. Qualifying direct deposit does not include payments received from apps such as PayPal or Cash App, and other similar payment providers. Deposits made at a financial center, via ATM, online transfer, mobile device, debit card/prepaid card number or the mail do not qualify. Terrible customer service, no way to secure message, they have CsR who can’t do things and promise things then don’t do it.

Found my account was not closed when a rep said a month ago they were closing it.

I opened my account at the end of September 2020 using the promo page active then for the $300 bonus. I had 2 real DDs post in October but stupidly, in hindsight, stopped them from continuing through November.

I have not had my bonus post yet, so I finally called them. They had me on hold looking into it for 20 minutes and came back with “You did not meet the terms because your direct deposits were only for one month.” The rep suggested I may have luck going in branch and asking a banker to credit me the $300 as a courtesy. I have left $10k sitting there for almost 6 months.

Has anyone had any luck either getting a courtesy credit or going the CFPB route? I’d like to avoid CFPB since it seems like this bank reliably pays you annually if you churn it right and that might get my SSN blocked for future applications. I don’t even know if I’d technically have a case. I did do recurring DDs, they just happened to be in the same month.

“Thank you for your interest. We are unable to process your application online. Please visit one of our convenient financial center locations to apply. Thank you.”
I live in TX and there is a branch 25 miles away.

Just FYI: Closed my account several days ago by calling CS. The CS rep specifically calculated how many days the account has been open. Thus, do not close unless it is 180 days.
