I just got a call from my local branch saying that I will not get the $400 bonus if I don’t have $25k in my account. Did anyone else get this? Am in Boston area.

damn. did you open at the branch? 25K is not part of the terms and conditions for the bonus… ?

Read terms and conditions. Didn’t see anything about fee waived first 3 months. Only qualifier is $25K across accounts or investment products to avoid fees.

Take a look at the fee schedule. That’s were I found the info.

Under fees nothing mentioned about waived. Fee conditions are within Terms.

Thanks RW! Interesting on the actual offer there is no mention of the grace period waiver. Appreciate the info! Now going to try Ally and WF for DD

I suspect I wasted 1 of my 3 $26 fee waivers by opening account in the last week of July. My past Santander statements were calendar month so that’s probably the fee period too.

How do you fund this account? This funding process is the dumbest thing ever. I don’t see any way to fund the account during the application. After opening the account, they say “don’t forget to fund the account”. Once you log into Online Banking, you are able to add an external account, but it only adds it for outbound transfers, not inbound. Such a stupid bank, I am not going to feel bad at all about closing this one as soon as the bonus posts (assuming I even get it, considering that it says that a $25 minimum opening deposit is required, but they give you no obvious means of posting said opening deposit.)

Same here.
Very surprised that nobody else mentioned this issue even I asked in the posts below.

Once you are given routing # and account # you link the account to an external bank. I had no issues! You need to complete the application process and receive approval!

For me, the account number is given after the account has been opened, and there’s no option of linking the account to an external bank to fund the new account. We can certainly push money from an external account, but that should not be considered as ” open a new account with minimum $25″.

It must be a new change that funding option wasn’t presented at the time of account opening because I remember doing it with a cc couple of years ago.

Also note that Santander doesn’t have the option to pull (inbound to Santander) funds from external account. Santander only allows push on their online banking.
You can do it by navigating to Money Movement -> Manage Transfer Recipients.

However you can always link your Santander account to another bank using Santander’s a/c and routing numbers and push funds on their interface into Santander.

The cc funding option was a nice thing at this bank. It would be a bummer if it’s gone as not too many banks allow that these days so Santander was like the last option that was still standing.
Can others please share if they also found cc funding is really gone ?

Have a credit freeze in place on all 3 credit bureaus and was able to open an account without thawing any of the freezes.

Do you see the option to fund the account during online application?

“$25 minimum opening deposit”. Anybody can fund the account during online account opening?

sirCharles

Per the santander fee schedule:
“All new checking accounts have a grace period of two Service Fee Periods after the account is opened before the Monthly Fee is assessed except Santander Basic Checking, which has no grace period, and Santander Select Checking, which has a grace period of three Service Fee Periods. This grace period does not apply to any new savings accounts, except for Santander Savings”

The select checkings has a grace period of three service fee periods, potentially making this bonus fee free

man……. i hope this promo gets extended up until late November so i can reset my churn period for the 1 year mark.

This offer is so piss easy to hit. You could either do 4x $1500 direct deposits if low on cash or a lump sum 6k, then pull it back and just go AFK for 3 months.

May I know what is AFK?

away from keyboard, in that case means money not sitting on the account and used somewhere else

So even if you open account prior to 8/7, you won’t receive bonus if zipcode is outside of the listed counties?
