- U.S. Grounds Boeing Planes, After Days of Pressure by NY Times. I’m interested to know why their decision eventually changed, was it due to safety concerns or purely because pressure was mounting? For the record I always think it’s a good idea to err on the side of caution.

Here are some of the most popular posts from yesterday:
Tough start of the year for Southwest: their mechanics are pulling planes to increase negotiation leverage and then their whole 737-MAX fleet is grounded. Would be surprised if they don’t start having delays/cancellations soon
Maybe they’ll actually have low fares for a while to try and boost revenue in a pinch.
I read somewhere the 737 MAXs are less than 5% of their fleet. They’ll be fine.
“their mechanics are pulling planes to increase negotiation leverage”. That’s what Southwest is claiming they are doing. Southwest only evidence has been that the number of grounded planes has increased. That does not mean that the mechanics are pulling planes that are fine.
Keep in mind both sides are trying to push their own narrative.
The acting FAA director did an interview yesterday on CNBC & said they grounded based on new data they received overnight & into yesterday & what they were seeing at the crash site. A company that had the raw data on the last few mins of flight finished translating it & the director said it looked similar to Lion Air.
Watching him dance around why the Canadians seemed to be faster on that data was sad. It seems the data they got “overnight” was enough for Canada.
What a joke. Paypal instant transfer to bank still costs 1%.
I wonder how they split that up.
