- Southwest Airlines to ax Mexico City flights by USA Today. Keep in mind this is only Mexico city flights and not all flights to Mexico.
- Bali plans tourist tax to tackle plastic pollution by The Guardian. Think it’s a good idea if the funds are actually used for that.
- Major Resorts Offer to Lock-Up Guest Phones – Exchange for Free Activities, Snacks, & Prime Pool Spots by Point Me To The Plane. I don’t really like resort type holidays most of the time, but I do think this is a really great idea to help people do a digital detox.

We are trying something new where we also post some of the most popular posts from the previous day (for this post we are doing popular posts from the weekend and Friday):
The plastic in the oceans isn’t from tourists, it’s from locals…same as in Thailand. It’s just another excuse to tax someone else. Doesn’t matter, I don’t visit countries with no religious freedom anyway.
Indonesia is so corrupt I wouldn’t expect the money to go anywhere but some politician’s pockets
A lot of the pollution in Bali isn’t actually from local Balinese people or tourists. A lot of it comes from Java during the rainy season when the rivers get washed out and trash then makes it down to Bali.
It’s not really about taxing somebody else, it’s about making the area more enjoyable for tourists.
Mexico City is such a cool city, sad to see it dropped from sw.
Bummer about the Southwest Mexico City flights. We’re flying there from Raleigh in February and got a crazy good deal with points (~7000 points each way plus tax).
And a heads up: Jetblue has very competitively priced Mexico City flights from Raleigh, and since you redeem with points, you can get a similar deal on Jetblue and Southwest. Jetblue has non-stops from Ft Lauderdale and Orlando if you’re flying from the southeast.
same here, i’ve been getting flights for me and my family for less than 5000-6000 points…I guess that’s why lol
Nice! I actually booked the return leg home through Orlando and paid 1800 Jet Blue points for MEX to Orlando! The SW flight home to Raleigh was 2x as many points as MEX-Orlando.
