Our Verdict

The current bonus is $50 for non-Prime and $100 for Prime, though we have seen as high as $150. $200 is highest ever. At the $150-$200 level, this already becomes an interesting signup bonus. That’s specially true given that there’s no spend requirement (I’m guessing the increased bonuses will be immediate upon approval) and that the card earn of 5% at Amazon and Whole Foods is actually useful to many people.

Star-date Weds 12/8/21: Having been previously denied due to 5/24, I was encouraged to read this. However, upon visiting, Amazon.com, the Chase Amazon Prime Rewards credit card page is down and states it is being “updated?” I then went to the Chase website which re-directs you back to Amazon with the same result? Is the break-up happening sooner ? Enquiring minds want to know

I got that message yesterday (Tuesday) during the great Amazon shutdown. It should be fine now. Only problem is that the offer is back down to $150 for Prime members (and maybe everyone else).

$13,000 + in the JP Morgan Chase Business Checking account of almost 12 years and though I have other credit cards, and just applied for this Amazon Chase Credit Card, I was denied by Chase. Again, though I’ve been a JP Morgan Chase Business Checking customer for 11+ years, I’ve never had a Chase •anything• credit card ever be “Approved”. Next to change banks ASAP

For whatever reason, I’ve always thought you can only have one of these cards per Amazon Household. After reading some other comments, that seemed not to be the case, so I figured I’d try to get my wife one as well while the bonus is this high.

My wife and I are sharing a Prime membership from my account to hers, and my Amazon Prime Rewards card is shared with her as a payment method.

Today she was able to apply and get approved immediately with the $200 bonus, which showed up in her gift card balance right away. Now both of our Amazon credit cards show up as payment methods in her account, so evidently there’s no restriction at all like I thought.

I’m glad she never got one before because the $200 bonus is excellent. I think it was $75 when I got mine some years ago.

We’re not big churners, and although she’s gotten a few credit cards in the last few years, I’m pretty sure she’s under 5/24.

hi Doc and friends, one question, when you receive the gift card for your approved application, like you had not to spend any money to receive it. Is that $100/$200 gift card taxable when filing taxes?

Your tax advisor would be able to consult on this. In my experience credit card rewards either cash or gift card are usually viewed as reimbursement rather than interest. The one exception is if you received a referral bonus from someone else signing up. The issuer would send out a 1099 in that case.

Wasn’t eligible yet for southwest as I got bonus last year. Data points for united seemed a bit dubious so far so I went for Amazon.

7/24, approved instantly with $5k limit and money already in amazon.

My $5K limit was a temporary limit. The actual limit is $7400. Got an email from Chase last night suggesting I should download their app so I can add the card to mobile wallet while I’m waiting for the physical card. I thought it was an erroneous email since I only have a Credit Journey account but I just decided to try that login on the main Chase site and it took me right in and showed me my card. That’s an extremely generous limit for my income and in fact is only $100 behind my Affinity FCU card it is supplanting as my Amazon card.
