Our Verdict

China Eastern is a SkyTeam member. I personally have had pretty bad reports about China Eastern so don’t really see this as a super attractive deal, but others might find it useful. Feel free to share any other ways to stack this deal in the comments.

Am I interpreting this correctly that if you book two separate China Eastern transactions that combined are over $1000 then it will trigger the $200 statement credit?

China Eastern should be used for cattle transport, not humans. They have no clue about customer service. No body can speak English, stingy on providing amenities and generally rude with passengers.
Their in-flight menu consists of a soup and funky looking mushrooms.
The only consolation is their cheap price. Good luck to anybody braving travel on CE air.

I feel that we didn’t get tweetable Amex Offers for long time?

I’ve never bought from China Eastern before, but just some quick searches show prices competitive with Delta for example for pretty much anywhere they fly. So it seems like if you have a Delta flight (or another skyteam member?) in mind, you could just book it via China Eastern and it’s like getting $200 off assuming you can spend the $1000. Do the “pretty bad reports” about china eastern apply to bookings or just flights operated by them?

Anything involving customer service with them is terrible.
